Well Kidd went outside to talk to the extras then he got, I want to say a hand double to come in to the studio. Then a couple producers come in to the studio. Then Dominic who plays Lincoln on the show comes in. So I grabbed my camera and went in and took a few shots.

They even mentioned me on the air which was cool. That hasn't happened before. If you want to hear it go listen on the KPod on http://www.kiddlive.com It's pretty funny especially the parts about deer.

But on to some pictures.

Sara Bareilles

Now I have to say this. It is absolutely incredible to get to sit in there and hear the artist outside of the mix. To hear them singing it in its rawest form right there infront of you. And having Sara there getting to hear that was incredible. The interview portion was hilarious too and it's up at http://www.kiddlive.com if anyone wants to listen. The performances are mixed in with the interview too.

Her van got a flat tire so they were a little late. She came in with grease on her hands and everything. That was a great couple of days getting to see her perform at House of Blues then at Kidd Kraddick. And I told her it had seriously been too long since she'd been to Dallas. Hopefully she will return sooner this time.

Here are a couple pics from that.

And I'm seriously going to plug her. Go check out http://www.sarabmusic.com or for all you myspacers. http://www.myspace.com/sarabareilles pick up the album Little Voice before she gets really famous and they charge 13.99 for it. :)

During a break I got him to sign a photo I had taken back when I shot the Honda Civic Tour for the paper. My exact quote was "Would it make me an ass if I asked you to sign this?" and Pete's response was "No not at all."

Pete was actually a very nice guy, he talked about a certain Golf Cart incident at that specific show. And how the FOB lights were ridiculously expensive and they only got used once during the show. Also very nice was Travis from Gym Class. Tired but nice. And like I said Andy was quiet but that doesnt make him un nice it just makes him quiet.

There we go! I'm just on a roll tonight with the updates!

Her amazing manager Chad left a photo pass at will call for me. So thank you Chad again for the billionth time.
The first three songs were Vegas, Morningside, and Bottle It Up. The first two I hadnt heard live before so I was happy I got to be up there shooting those. After my songs I went off and stood at the edge of the stage infront of the barricade and watched the rest of her set. The vocals were so on. And hearing everything with a full band was so weird a good weird, but weird, because I'm used to it being just Sara and Javier. I am more than ready for her to come back soon and do her own show!

It seemed like everyone went out to go meet her. She even sold out of the Pink Love Song shirts.

So I just sat down and waited then went over and said hi. And right here is why I love the girl to death. She goes "Rachel how are you! and hugs me right off the bat. And we talk for a minute and I tell her that she's all famous now and that I will be the in studio photographer for her tomorrow at Kidd Kraddick. And she gets excited and she was genuinely happy for me that I'm shooting for them and freelancing for the paper. Hell she was more happy for me than I think some of my friends have been! We chatted a little more. Showed her my business cards which she thought were amazing. Talked about how the mixes on Careful Confessions of the songs that made the new album, were better than on Little Voice because I'm lame and like the stripped down versions of stuff. And then she went to go watch the show and I left because I had to be at Kidd Kraddick and stuff in the morning and would just see her there. And I dont know who all listened to that but I will give you a recap of that too when I post pictures from it.

But lets jump back to the house of blues show.
Unfortunately the lighting guy and or it may just be the lighting rig that points at the performer, at this particular house of blues blows all sorts of things. And the irony is they have spot lights they could use but god forbid they hire a dedicated spotter. I got some okay stuff but its challenging there. And it's not the lack of light its the light on top of them that blows out some features and then their eyes end up being dark and such. So it's really hard to compensate for the bright light and the no light on the performer at the same time. But! Here are some photos, I do what I can with what I'm given.

Sara Bareilles Sara Bareilles Sara Bareilles

Okay later this week I should definitely have the In Studio stuff up. And it's not just Sara Bareilles its also Pete and Andy from Fall Out Boy and Travis from Gym Class Heroes. And I've been asked to shoot Plain White Tee's up there tomorrow.

Everyone have a good night!

I was actually kinda sad that our paper is not covering his show. But I did get to shoot and meet him at Kidd which is always a plus. Very chatty guy and his band was nice too. I geeked out and asked him about his Jeremy Cowart shoot. If you dont know who Jeremy is look him up. Amazing photographer. Also chatted with him about Will Hoge's brother a little bit and for those of you going what? Josh Hoge aka Will Hoge's brother. Both very talented musicians.

Here are some of the pictures. There are more at http://kiddlive.com

Bass Hall Shows

Last week I shot two shows at Bass Hall. The first was Yamato: The Japanese Drummers. And the second was The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra doing John Williams pieces. Both were pretty interesting. And since I'm kinda a Star Wars geek I really loved that. But here are a few pics from each.

But there's that! :) I have some Elliot Yamin pictures I'm going to put up here shortly and I'm shooting Ryan Adams and Peter Frampton this weekend.

Next week I'm trying for the Sara Bareilles/Paolo Nuntini show, Fall Out Boy, and Maroon 5. We shall see how that goes. Hopefully well.

Also I will be in Kidd Kraddick studios for Sara Bareilles and now Fall Out Boy since they are there the same day next week. Should be lots of fun.

Live / Collective Soul / Emerson Hart

Live

So! It's been about a couple weeks since I shot this for the Star-Telegram. It was Collective Soul, Live and Emerson Hart at Nokia Theatre. I kind of put off editing them for the blog since they didn't run a photo with the review. Which is weird but I guess they ran out of room on the page. I think it was when Mark Cuban first started Dancing With the Stars. So obviously Mark Cuban is going to get the picture being the owner of the Mavs. But I wanted to give a bit of a buffer of time before putting them up.

So the show wasnt too bad. I really enjoyed the opener Emerson Hart. He was the singer of the band Tonic. I do suggest checking him out if you get a chance. It's worth your time. Here's some pics from his set.

Collective Soul like I said they were alright. Not really something I frequent listening to. The fans seemed to enjoy it though.

Live I thought was pretty good. I haven't honestly heard much of them. I seem to associate them with Chris Daughtry since he did their version of "I Walk the Line" on American Idol.

So there is that finally! I have some shots from The Japanese Drummers I want to say they were called Yamato or Yamoto. That was interesting. I also shot the Fort Worth Symphony doing some John Williams stuff. And what does John Williams mean. Oh yes it means Star Wars. You knew it was coming, I am definitely putting some of those shots up. And trust me they arent your average symphony shots.

And last night I shot Diana Krall. I dont know if I want to put any of those up though mostly because we were in the sound booth and they are just kinda ok. I may post a couple but a person at the piano from far away becomes Redundant when you were shooting. There's a fun story to go with that though.

Also tonight I was supposed to shoot Annie Lennox. Did not get to since we were presented with a waiver. I do have a tid bit of highlight for me personally though. But I will save that story for a little later!

Night (or afternoon depending on when you're reading this)

It was really good and they did some new stuff from their upcoming Motown cover album. Did the old school motown dancing and everything.

I have to say this though while they were good. The sun was bad. I got burnt on the back of my neck and my ears cause I was wearing my hair up in a hat!

Also bad, girls screaming "SING ON BENDED KNEEEEE!!! GIVE ME A ROSE!!!"

Seriously! They will get to it. I'm sure it's on the set list (and it was). Take a chill pill and stop screaming for them to sing that song. I could write a book on how to keep yourself from looking like an idiot at a concert. Concert Etiquette: Do's and Dont's.

Here's a couple State Fair pictures too.

Later!
