Rascal Flatts

They cut it from being able to shoot two whole songs. To getting 30 seconds of the 2nd and 3rd songs. And that makes my job hard. I have to take some test shots to make sure the light isnt lying to my meter. Then I have to pray to god one of the guys is near me because the stage is so massive and they are all running around. And to top it off were in the fan pit because they dont have barricades and I knew that but it sure seemed like it would be an easier situation when we got 2 songs. But I got a few descent shots.

That's life though. I mean I should expect random changes like this. Being told one thing and it being another. It's a hazard of the job. I cant take it out on the band. They still are really nice to their fans and pretty loose with letting them take pictures. As big as they are they try to make themselves pretty accessible. I heard at the shows they were signing autographs from the stage. That's very Kelly Clarkson of them.

Anyway! Here are some of the pics. More at the flickr as usual!

I'm actually really hoping I get assigned Rascal Flatts for friday. So everyone keep their fingers crossed. I'm not holding my breath though.

If I get it I will twitter and be ecstatic about it.

Oh and I got a new lens. A 70-200mm L series f/4. The price tag on the 2.8 was a bit steep. Ideally I'd love the 28-300mm L series f/2.8 with IS. That would be awesome. Okay I'm out though!

Martina McBride

So I shot Martina last week. It went alright. I seriously need to invest in a better long lens. I want the 70-300 IS lens from canon. Because the one I'm using now is a friends and its the one that comes with the kit. But the most important thing is. It doesnt have IS which is pretty much something you really really want to have when shooting concerts.

We had to shoot from the side. If it's not obvious in the photo's. But that's better than from the sound board. I dont get the whole my video camera guys are so self absorbed that they cant have anyone else directly down infront of the stage. Because they cant handle it for not 3 but 2 songs. It was a two song shoot but once again that's fine. Atleast it wasnt like Ne-yo was and all suprise the third song is a half a song. No it was two full songs.

But back to the lens thing. I got a few descent shots off my lens. Then for the last minute or so of the last song Jason Janik the freelancer for the Dallas Morning News let me use his L Series lens. HUGE lens. Nice lens. Jason's a very cool guy. Someone I do not mind being in the photo pit with. And he probably doesnt mind being in there with me because he's taller and can shoot right over my head.

Here are some of the pictures.

The guy at Nokia who handles all the photographers and media he was a very nice guy too. He looked like someone but I totally cant place it at the moment.

I dont have any assignments this week yet. I wouldnt mind shooting Pat Benetar at the HOB. Heck I'll take anything though. I'm really hoping I get Rascal Flatts next week. Everyone cross their fingers for me?

I had to sign a waiver that said i wouldn't resell the images or even make posters or pin ups. Seriously? You think that many little girls want you on their wall that it would be lucrative for me to do that? Riiiight.

But that was fine whatever. The only think that really really erked me was that on the dont sell my picture waiver it said I shoot for 3 songs. Okay since when did 3 songs mean you sing half the third song? To top it off it was one of his singles he released! What the hell is that?

But here are some shots.
