First of all nothing against red heads, my mother is one. Second of all the neglect continues. Which is quite sad frankly, seeing as how important social networking and blogging really is now a days. As a marketing tool more than anything. I even took on an ambitious attempt at Tumblring a photo a day and that was short lived.

But then I went on vacation and when I returned, got wrapped up in work. Heck I'm still wrapped up in work. It seems as if its never end and I'm paid far too little for it all. I also find myself with quite the insomnia lately. Maybe I'm just nocturnal.

Anyhow I discovered a video I shot on MTV.com today. No biggie it was on youtube and I shot it for a friend at his convention. But the fact its on MTV is pretty cool. Wish there was a credit on it though.

Anyway there's that. So what have I been shooting, well there was Katy Perry, Dolly Parton, Panic at the Disco, Marc Broussard, NKOTBSB, and Rhianna to name a few folks. I'm crossing my fingers to shoot Maroon 5 again this year, I'd like to shoot the Honda Civic Tour but not from back of the house. I mean come on Blink 182 you're not that egotistical right? I have also yet to shoot Taylor Swift since she performed at a Mall here back in 06, it would be nice to get some shots of her show.

Anyhow I think I'm going to leave you with that for now. I know its far less than exciting. If yall want to peruse the Tumblr its under the name RachelParker. Shocking right??

Spring absolutely kills me with the hour we lose! It totally messes with my already ridiculous body clock. This past week has been pretty nuts. Lots and lots of shoots this week, including a friends wedding. Yes I'm still bitter it fell during SXSW film. I'm going to go down there one year and shoot away, I swear! It's almost blasphemous for me to claim to be a photographer from Texas, and never shot SXSW or ACL Fest.

However lots of great stuff coming up, DIFF, Nascar, Frightmare Weekend, Dallas Comic Con, which happens to also fall on the same weekend as Taste Addison, and Wild Flower Fest? WTF is that?! Why so much on one weekend.

I dont know that I really have any photos to post with this entry. It was really just me rambling a little and making myself feel like I'm actually kind of keeping up with the blog.

Alright I'm going to get back to work on everything, before it starts piling up!

Serious Neglect

Oh blog how I've kind of missed you.. and seriously seriously.. SERIOUSLY neglected you. I mean its been practically a year since my last update. Of course I've still been shooting, and not just concerts, red carpets, events, a couple weddings (yes that's new), some engagements, and I've even dived into some video. So busy busy busy! Not to mention my abandonment of the blog means I was doing more non work related activities as well. One may begin to wonder when I sleep. Some days I wonder that as well.

Anyhow I've been trying to play catch up on my Flickr, which I also abandoned for a year. I'm already up to August and it includes pics of Aerosmith, The American Idol Tour, Adrien Brody, Will Smith, Lady Antebellum, Good Charlotte, and a whole bunch of others. For good measure I will throw a few up on here. I mean it is a photographers blog after all. How disappointing would it be if I didn't.

Okay well there is that. In other subjects, I'm looking forward to checking out the movie Rango this week. I'm also going to get my fill of Jake Gyllenhaal this week, Love and Other Drugs comes out on BluRay today and yes I love him in almost everything he's in so I will surely go buy it. Not a fan of The Prince of Persia quite frankly though. I'm very curious about Source Code. Totally mad/bummed/sad I won't get to shoot him at South By Southwest Film. Not because I cant get access but because I have a danged wedding to shoot the day he's there!

But while I'm on the subject of movies, everyone should check out a locally made film called "Brotherhood." It's playing at the Angelika Dallas, it's really well made, and very intense. Directed by Will Canon (a fellow Arlington High School Graduate, go colts) and starring Jon Foster, Trevor Morgan, & Lou Taylor Pucci. Yes Jon Foster is Ben Fosters brother. Great movie, and most of you who frequent Central Arlington will recognize the house they shot in.

Okay I'm getting off my pedestal and am done with my ramblings and musings. Hopefully I can get back with the program and start blogging it up again!

I did shoot Muse last month though. This month things are picking up with the Dallas Film Fest, and Nascar. So I figured I'd stop by here and grace you with a few shots from the film fest so far.

Ok I guess I lied?

So a whopping 1 entry for the month of January.. great start to that whole "trying to blog more" thing. But in my defense I spent a good chunk of January under the weather. After the whole strep throat fiasco I was ok for a couple weeks, then I bought a new pillow for my bed and had an allergic reaction to the chemicals they spray on the dang thing. Breathing all that in while I slept = bad. I knew I was having an allergic reaction to something, but it wasn't till my face started to break out and have red splotches that I knew it was the pillow doing it.

So I've gotta say, seriously pillow making companies? I understand you spray them to preserve them while they sit in stores, but seriously? I didn't realize washing and airing out my pillow was a requirement before "maybe" being able to use it. I don't think the pillows would deteriorate if you didnt spray them with that crap. It was by far one of the worst allergic reactions I've ever had to anything in my life, and then I got to reading about how the crap they spray on it can have toxic effects in large quantities like formaldehyde for example. I got dehydrated beyond belief, my throat was really dry, runny nose, watery eyes, dry cough. So to the executives running the companies making products like pillows and mattresses that are sprayed down with formaldehyde and polyurethane, shame on you for being cheap and putting the public's health second to the dollar bill in your pocket.

Ok now that I have that off my chest! I'm feeling much better this week, and even while feeling like total crap because of allergies last weekend, I still got out and went to Dallas Comic Con, camera in tow of course. So here's a couple shots from the Q&A panels with Daniel Cudmore of Twilight & X-Men and Sean Patrick Flanery from Boondock Saints. I believe my friends over at RedCarpetCrash.com and Bigfanboy.com should have video up soon.

A New Decade :)

Ok so this is my official first post of the Decade. Surprisingly there will be no Concert photos in this blog! Crazy... I know. But I said in my last post that I want to blog more. Believe me I have a few concert shots to come soon enough. However I just wanted to go ahead and kick off my blogging for the year and show you that I can shoot things other than concerts!

A couple days before new years it snowed here in DFW and I persuaded my brother to be my muse and let me photograph him. Quite the feat honestly. So I just wanted to share a shot from that shoot. It looks better bigger, so click it :)

I hope you all had a fantastic New Year. I actually got Strep Throat the first damn day of the year. How's that for kicking it off! I would have taken advantage of all the down time to get actual stuff done, but my body insisted upon using it for sleep. What is that?

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas, Hanukkah, or whatever else you may celebrate. I ate wayy too much

Anyway onto the fun photos of Maroon 5 I shot in November. They rocked UTA and my gosh I wish there would be more concerts at UTA. That was a neat little concert hall. The guys put on a really energetic show and were more connected with the crowd vs in the larger venues.

Ok so that's really all for now. I did go to a few Kelly Clarkson shows when she passed through the great state of Texas. But I shot those on my point and shoot and haven't really delved into editing any of them.

I really want to make a better habit of blogging next year. I've kind of slacked off. I was thinking about vlogging maybe. Showing you lovely people who don't know me what I look like. I hate pictures of myself though! I think most photographers do though. What do you guys think?

Oh one more thing. A friend of mine had asked me if I could go through and find some photos I took of her friend's daughter Chandler performing with her band "The Bella Cullen Project" at Twicon. So I finally went ahead and pulled some shots and edited them.

Chandler's now gone solo, and I'm going to give her a little blog love right here cause she's got definite potential and mad songwriting skills, plus she's a fellow Arlington girl. So check out her music at http://www.myspace.com/chandlernashmusic

Last month I shot the fantastic David Cook at the Palladium Ballroom in Dallas. Let me tell you, I don't ever recall any guitarist/musician rocking out that hard infront of my lens playing it up that much. This guy was such a great shoot. Face melting, we're talking epic.

I have to say kudos to David for putting on one hell of a show and being so great to photograph. Oh and using spotlights! I was thrilled about that. I wish every shoot could be that awesome. :)

Nobody hair whips quite like Miranda Lambert. I was lucky enough to get to shoot this Texas talent again in October. Yeah I know it's December and I'm just now blogging it.. I'm horrible. Miranda put on a fantastic set, featuring several songs off her latest release Revolution. She also mixed a little Kings of Leon into one of them.

Miranda is one of those artist who I never get tired of photographing. I don't think her mom ever gets tired of watching her either because I stayed and watched the rest of the performance and her mom was jammin' out near us. I think she's her daughters biggest fan.

Anyway here are some shots from the performance

Earlier in October I also got to shoot Metallica. It's the first show that I've shot with a square stage in the round where we were given freedom to move around the entire thing. However the band seemed to be pretty active to the west side of the stage so running around became almost pointless.. well unless you wanted to escape the horde of photographers shooting on that side. I guess they are liberal with passes cause that photo pit was packed.

None the less I got some pretty cool stuff. I think all the boys from my high school would be jealous I shot this one. Here are those shots.

So I got to shoot another person on my list of "people I have to shoot." And let me just say 2 songs was not enough! I mean I got great shots in those two songs, but the show is so colorful and active I wish I could have shot way more. Kudos to Pink for wanting to still put on a full on pop show, with dancing, and costume changes and an elaborate stage, oh.. and then having the vocal chops and to back it all up. Not to mention she was performing with a strained shoulder. They should give her some kind of entertainer of the year award.

So in short the show was incredible. A must see for everyone, hopefully she will do another round in the U.S. for the folks that missed it. For the shooters lighting was quite good, lots of spots. You're restricted to a limited area up front, which means you cant run around, oh and you have to watch out for her video guys. They move swiftly and for the most part aren't in your way but there are the few instances where they needed to get in for a shot.

Also to come soon is Metallica! Oh and Miranda Lambert is playing the State Fair this Saturday, who else is excited about that? Heck yeah, should be a good one after the Red River Rivalry. Go UT by the way.

OK I know what you're thinking.. another Kelly Clarkson show? But she's my favorite. We had a blast at this one last month, and tonight is opening night for her "fall" tour. If she's coming to a town near you, I suggest going, you'll have a great time and be nothing less than impressed with her vocal skills.

So the Gleek Tour stopped by the Galleria Mall earlier this month. And if you haven't seen the show Glee what on earth are you waiting for?! It's absolutely hilarious. Sure there is the occasional musical number that seems a bit off, but most of the musical numbers are great. Dont believe me, just google "Glee Push It." That one deserves an emmy.

Anyway I had the pleasure of getting to shoot the kids at the Galleria that afternoon and a few of them at Kidd Kraddick earlier that morning. All of them very nice, not to mention Cory and Mark both were very easy on the eyes.

OK I know it's been like a month. So firstly I apologize for the neglect. Things have been a little hectic.

At the end of July beginning of August Twicon was held in Dallas. While there were good aspects of this event, most press was treated rather poorly unless you were MTV or Reelz channel. Nothing against those awesome networks they're great. But the event organizers could have been way more accommodating to actual local media. I watched them tell a major news network they couldn't get a video shot of the actors signing autographs. News networks syndicate to their affiliates around the US all the time, so that's a big no no. You just said no to lots of free press. It all seemed a bit unorganized. However I think the biggest thing saving the conference was a group called The Hillywood Show. They have some pretty amusing parody videos on their website, and not just of twilight. So check them out.

Anyway here are some shots of the actors doing their Q&A, the only thing we were allowed to shoot the actors doing.....

Ok so that's all for now. I have the cast of Glee soon, and there's a possibility of some Kelly Clarkson photos. Not many.. but a few. :) I just shot Drew Barrymore, there's lots of folks in at Kidd Kraddick next week. I am hoping to shoot Pink next week, but I'll settle for Blink 182. ;-)

Ok first of all, sorry it's been so long. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, what better to follow the last post than Aerosmith & ZZ Top. This show was great to shoot. I enjoy that they mix the set list up every night, and that way the photographers don't all have the same shots. The band was great to shoot with Joe Perry shredding away on guitar and Steven Tyler's hair blowing around thanks to the gigantic fans next to the catwalk. My only complaint is that all the photographers have to cram into one side of the barricade. I got in first so I found a sweet spot though, no room to move around at all however. Major kudos to the girl who was handling the press, I'm not sure what her title was, she may have actually been the tour manager even.

Here are some shots from the great show. It's a shame that Steven fell off the stage at another show shortly after. I hope he is feeling better.

David Cook & Vans Warped Tour

4th of July was absolutely insane. I don't think I slept more than 3 hours the whole weekend. Kicking it off was David Cook out at Winstar Casino up in Thackerville on the 3rd. I just took my point and shoot with me because I didn't bother to try and get a photo pass. I wish I had taken the pro cam with me though cause quite a few folks in the audience were shooting away on their rebels. Oh well though. David put on a great show and was chatty with the audience talking about winning at blackjack. I wish he'd come to Dallas sometime soon. It's not like the drive out there was that far though. The cool thing about this venue was they had a spotter. The other stops on davids tour were at clubs mostly with really not so great lighting.

On the 4th I shot some fireworks out in Dallas. Which was pretty much your typical 4th of July ordeal. And on the 5th Vans Warped Tour rolled in. Which was interesting. Quite a few lesser known bands this year. The threat of rain loomed over keeping it a few degrees cooler, but it was still like 98 degrees in the shade. Here are some shots of the bands I shot. I enjoyed Sing It Loud's set the most I think.

Heroes Baseball, Boyz II Men, and The Veronicas Oh my..

So the heroes baseball game was at the end of June, and twinkle toes here is Joey Fatone. Who some may know from Dancing with the Stars, but more commonly known from the Boy Band Nsync. Now I may lose every bit of musical credibility right now, but I loved Nsync back in the day. Heck I'd love a reunion tour, and would probably give an arm to photograph it because of all the dancing they did and I'm sure are still capable of doing. Makes for good looking photos. They always had great lighting too. Anyway so I was a little excited about this shoot for that reason alone. I kept my excitement inside though, because hi professional.. its what I do.

The heroes game is something I've attended in years past and it's always a good time. I don't really shoot a lot of sports, but when it's something laid back like this it's really enjoyable. Hopefully I'll get to shoot it again next year. Other celebs/sports stars in attendance were Warren Sapp, Martellus Bennett, Jason Witten, Brady James, Marty Turco, Brendan Morrow, Mike Modano, Daryl Johnston, Michael Irvin, Mark Cuban and some other I cant remember. Ok so on to the Veronicas who I always enjoy shooting. Let me just say though I was scared during the first song where the lighting was horrendous! However by the 2nd song it was looking up and the 3rd song had amazing lighting. These girls are always great about playing it up for the audience and the cameras. And they put on an energetic set.

And lastly Boyz II Men, a band I grew up listening to. Like literally, I was like 10 and singing I'll make love to you. There's something just not right about that.. Motownphilly is one thing, but songs about baby making being sung by a 5th grader.. not ok. None the less I still enjoy these guys and they were full of energy blowing the roof off of Bass Hall with their flawless vocals, which is not an easy feat.

Ok so I have some Warped Tour stuff for yall very very very soon, some David Cook, some Aerosmith, some Twi-Con.. not the lame stuff just the good stuff like Peter Faccinelli and Kellan Lutz.

Jordin Sparks at Kidd Kraddick & Jonas Brothers Opening Night

Mid June we had Jordin Sparks and Jessie James in studio again at kidd kraddick. Both girls were performing with the Jonas Brothers at Texas Stadium that weekend. Jordin was there to promote her cd that just came out yesterday and Jessie will have her debut cd out later this year. However since the last time she was in studio her single Wanted has definitely picked up in rotation. Here's a couple shots from that week!

Once again sorry the quality is a bit distorted compared to what I usually post, I dont know why they end up like that when they put them in the slideshow. Oh and some of the shots in the slideshow were shot by the reviewer after the first 3 we photographers were allowed. Just a heads up.

For any fellow photographers shooting the Jonas Brothers show for a daily or what not, lighting is good. First song we shot from the sound board. However because there was a crane blocking some of our shots we were taken to the front of the stage to shoot the 2nd and 3rd songs. HOWEVER the first song is the only song you will be able to get a shot of all three brothers together and its not an easy feat to get them all facing you, but its your best chance. I shot the first song with a 300 and then you'll need a 24-70 and a 70-200 for the 2nd and 3rd songs. It's in the round and the middle of the stage spins in a circle. The show I shot was the first night of the tour. I'm not sure if its still the same set up for shooters or not. But there's really no great advice to give other than good luck.

Sorry I haven't posted an entry in a bit. I've been tied up editing some shots from Warped Tour, and I shot Aerosmith Sunday. I do have photos coming soon from the Reebok Heroes Celebrity Baseball game. Lots of good stuff Warren Sapp + Joey Fatone = Gold.

And lastly I'm always looking for shoots if anyone in the Dallas area needs photos or if bands need promotional images. Rates are generally negotiable. Just letting yall know.

So at the end of May.. like literally the second to last day of the month, I was fortunate enough to get to shoot No Doubt. The last time I saw this band was way back in 2002. Let me just say 7 years without them was far too long. I have always and will always prefer Gwen with the band. There's just so much chemistry and the music is so fun.

Ok so needless to say I was stoked to shoot this one. Lighting on the tour is great, they have a pretty simple stage set up with lots of room for the band to run around and a big screen in the background, which I always like because it adds some color to the photos. If youre attending this show it's a good one. I don't often stay to watch shows after I'm done shooting, but I was glad this was one I did get to stay and watch.

In May we had Dallasite Demi Lovato in studio at Kidd Kraddick. She sounded great and during sound check I even got to hear her sing a little bit of Kelly Clarksons "My Life Would Suck Without You," which was playing on the radio during the break. That was pretty cool.

Ok so just as promised James Morrison photos. He put on one heck of a show. I wish I could have shot more than just the first 3 songs because he got into it more and more as the night progressed. He did come out with a bang though. The show was at the Granada, so lighting wasn't all that great, which is funny because they could have an awesome set up if they would be willing to shell out a few bucks and add few more lights and smoke... oh and learn how to use the lights they already have. That place has so much potential and books some great gigs, so it's a shame its such a cave to shoot in at times.

If James comes to your town you should definitely go see him! He doesn't come to the states too often, so its a rare treat!

Believers Never Die Tour w/Fall Out Boy, 50 cent, and More

So back to mid April when this tour rolled through town. I always always enjoy shooting Fall Out Boy. These guys put on a great show, it was my first time shooting 50 cent and I know it sounds crazy that he was opening for Fall Out Boy but he did a great job and it worked out well. Lighting for those two was great. Lots of colorful back lights and spotlights for consistent lighting.

For the other 3 acts however lighting was mostly that back lighting which is way tough to work with. When the fronts cant compete with the back light you end up with a lot of blown out photos. Oh well though!

So Mid April Fall Out Boy's Pete and Patrick stopped by Kidd Kraddick. Still as nice as the time they came in before. Pete was quite chatty as well, which was cool. He showed me his new tattoo of Texas and I believe a yellow rose. Cobra Starships Gabe and Ryland made a surprise appearance. Kellie is in love with, and if you listen to the show you probably know that. So that was very cool.

Back in April I was fortunate enough to shoot the Forever the Sickest Kids show. This band hails from Dallas so I guess I should have shot them more than I have. But I haven't. This was however one of the first time's they've had pretty good lighting though. And with the way this band moves all over the place it's necessary. In the first song Jonathan had already broken his microphone stand and it was tangled in his microphone cord, nearly decapitating myself and the other 2 photographers in the pit as he just dragged it along on stage with him.

This band was way fun to shoot though. The kind of band you could shoot multiple times and not get bored at all. So major kudos and thank you Forever the Sickest Kids for making fun and a challenge. Those are always the best shoots.

Gavin Degraw.. Yes Again

So in April I went to see/shoot Gavin Degraw again, this tour titled "Where It Began" was full of new material off his latest album "Free." It wasn't your traditional Gavin show, it was a more mellow stripped down show, and back to his old ways of having a different set list every night, which is awesome. There was no barricade it was up close and personal. Oh and also! He didn't wear his hat at first.. proving to the world he has hair! Sure I knew that already, but a lot of people didn't. Even Perez Hilton was amazed.

The show picked up energy at the end though. Gavin rocking out on the piano as usual. So all in all a great show yet again. Sure this is a biased opinion because he's one of my favorites, but the guy's got soul. I'm crossing my fingers for the day he'll cover "Let's Get It On" again and get up and do the splits then sing you give me good feelings without a microphone like he did the first time I saw him.

Nascar Spring 09

Nascar was last month, and that's always fun to shoot, my ears got burnt pretty good though. It's definitely grueling, but I feel like I learn something each time I go out there. As you all well know I don't shoot a whole bunch of sports. And ok I'll admit it, I like every other girl my age have a crush on Kasey Kahne. However when I'm down there shooting I can't play favorites and professionalism is the name of the game. So that's a major upside to being out there shooting. On another note traffic wasn't too bad on Race day either, I took a differn't route home this time, it seems as though 121 I think it was.. is far less congested than 35 south. But that's only helpful to East Arlington and Dallas residents, if you live in Fort Worth it would take you way out of the way. The Texas Motor Speedway folks are always hospitable so I'm giving a shout out to them. Tickets for the Fall Race are on sale now. So Dallas folks you should check it out, but bring the sunscreen!

Well at the end of March I got to shoot Britney's Circus tour stop here. There were about a billion dancers and stuff on stage with her. They had us up on the side because honestly when you've only got 3 songs to shoot and a stage that big in the round. It's about the only thing that makes sense. I mean I imagine one could keep up on the floor but it would be like running a marathon back and forth and difficult to focus on shooting.

Spotlights were good for most of it. The second song was a little tough cause Britney was in a cage thing of sorts. But I think I got some ok shots, no cool lights or anything because of where we shot from. Here are some shots.

Also in March I got to shoot Adele who was great. I got to actually stay and watch the show which is rare so I was happy about that. She seems so giddy sometimes when she performs, as if she can't believe folks are there cheering for her. I think the modesty is a great. Here are a few from that!

Ok lots and lots and lots of stuff from Kidd Kraddick over the past month and a half. We had the most awesome Paul Rudd in studio, and I have to admit I was really excited about it. I don't think there was a female that works up there that wasn't excited, and I'm happy to say he was extremely nice. He was there promoting "I Love You, Man" which is hilarious if you haven't seen it.

Also in studio we had Matt Nathanson. He's always hilarious, especially on the fly. They showed him the new performance hall which also includes the new green room, or as I call it my room of narcassism.. there are a bunch of photos I've taken in the room. It's like they are my children, he totally pointed that out too when he was in there.

Nextly we had the one and only Miley Cyrus in studio. She was doing a bit of a promotional tour for the new single from the new Hannah Montana movie. She was very nice and chatty, actually asking about my camera, I thought it was very cool she's interested in photography. I have to say she carries herself very well its hard to remember sometimes that she's only 16.

Ok last up for this batch oh blog goodness is the up and comer Jessie James. She's managed by Johnny Wright and has some pipes on her like Christina Aguilera. I'd keep my eyes peeled for her to blow up if I were you.

They've booked a big guest for in studio tomorrow. I dont know if its on the DL or not. Also! just a reminder that there are a ton more photos at www.kiddlive.com

Awesome Aussie and Freezing Jonas

So the end of February brought Missy Higgins and the Jonas Brothers. Missy was awesome, a bit more mellow set than I was expecting and short due to there being a show booked an hour after hers was set to end. The Aussie accent made up for the shortness of set though. It however did not make up for the lack of the song Scar! Whats up with that Missy!? Lighting for Higgins was rather dim as well. I guess trying to match the mellow. Hilarious moment when I was shooting, some girl in the crowd yelled "I'll be the Right Girl!" when Missy was singing "Wrong Girl" On another Missy note they've been playing "Steer" a ton at my other job on the satellite radio. I get kind of excited when it comes on. It played today matter of fact! If you dont know Missy Higgins.. get with it!

Ok now on to the Jonas.. that's like completely opposite of Missy Higgins. This however was a red carpet event. It was outside and like 38 degrees and that doesn't include the wind chill. I have to hand it to the fans that stood out there and waited for hours on end. We eventually got to go stand in the lobby of Main Event. Jonas were supposed to arrive at around 11:00 pm but were running late with all the promotion they were doing across the U.S. (It happens) But they didn't walk the Red Carpet till 1:30 A.M. Demi Lovato also walked the carpet, but she got there at 10:30 when it first started. She recently twittered that she gets nervous on red carpets. I think she handled this one marvelously, especially since it was freezing and she was in a knee length skirt of sorts (the wind tried to blow that thing up too, that would have sucked!)

Hope you enjoyed the shots from both events. I'm going to try and get a slew of Kidd Kraddick stuff blogged. Speaking of which.. Ashley Tisdale will be in studio tomorrow morning, and friday we have Fall Out Boy! Dallasites should come down! Should be good!

How was everyone's easter? I'm reading New Moon now.. I know lame.. I've fallen Victim to reading these books.

Bahamas pt 3: The final installment!

Alright so this is it. The last and final entry about the Bahamas trip last month. Man why on earth are yall reading my blog I'm so behind. But thank you!

It was definitely a music filled weekend. And no doubt I was exhausted by the end of it all. Late nights, Early Mornings, Afternoon Naps, and still way too much stuff to do, it was impossible to cram it all into 4 days! There were concerts Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.. I mean really.. who needs sleep?

Ok no doubt I'm going to start with the main feature of the weekend and my personal fav, Kelly Clarkson.

Unfortunately the crowd was pretty lame for most of the night, up until security let the younger fans move right up against the stage for the end of the set. You just have to feel empathetic for an artist who's trying to work a crowd that wants to sit down the whole time because they all won the trip for free and dont really care. With the exception of a few people. None the less the girl sang her butt of and tried her hardest to get folks to interact.

The Host for the weekend was Nick Lachey. I dont know why he didn't perform? I guess he doesn't have a band put together at the moment. He does have a new album coming out though? One song acapella wouldn't have hurt?

Friday Night they had Lily Allen who is hilarious. I think I stressed this previously, but her songs just prove it. Opening for Lily was Secondhand Serenade. This was prior to the awkward hugging experience. I never saw it coming..

Lastly Kevin Rudolph sang a few songs in the Dragon Club Thursday night. It's odd that my entry is going backwards but whatever. We all went to dinner and then went to the performance. One of the girls I met from from Baton Rouge was rocking out with Kevin during Let It Rock. Shout out Baton Rouge girls!

Ok so that concludes the photo fun from the Bahamas. I do suggest going! It's lots of fun and the weather is fantastic. I'd love to go back and leave the camera at home. Who would have though I'd ever say that! There are more photos at www.kiddlive.com if you want to check them out.

I've got tons more stuff to edit. I'm shooting Britney tomorrow night. Nascar this weekend. I'll do my best to try and catch up. I've been doing a lot of reading lately as well. I've fallen victim to the Twilight book.. it all started as curiosity.. and now.. well you know. Hopefully everyone had a great spring break!

Ok so like I said.. last month Bahamas.. if you're confused read the previous entry.

So our Friday morning there, they had a bunch of interviews with the performers for the Pop Rocks Atlantis or whatever the concert was being called this year.

Of course I was very excited about Kelly Clarkson. During the interview she talked about how someone stole her dog.. they were trying to help find it after we got home. So if you know anyone in the Mansfield area who found a Golden Lab puppy like 6 weeks ago call in to the show http://kiddlive.com and let them know...

I got to chat with her for a couple minutes during the break. She recognized me from times I met her previously which was cool, then I asked her if she named her dogs Eddie and Bella (the ones she talked about in the interview) after Twilight. She admitted yes to Bella, but said Eddie wasn't named after Edward.

Nick Lachey was very cool, the power at the resort went out and he was just hanging till it came back on then they finished. He seemed really cool. Not to sure why he wasn't performing at the show though. He was hosting.

Lily Allen stopped by and she was really funny. She has no problem saying what she's thinking and I like that. After interviews were done she went walking by with some Cheetos and gladly shared them with Big Al Mack. Something I wish they had gotten on video.

They also had a couple Performance/Interviews from up and coming act Krista and Kevin Rudolph performing an acoustic version of "Let It Rock"

The next day Secondhand Serenade did a little private acoustic performance/interview in a Suite at the resort. It was pretty neat except when I got the worlds most awkward hug ever in my life. John walked up to me and started hugging me with his guitar on and everything and the entire time I was thinking "my camera is going to scratch his guitar oh no!" What capped off the awkward was the room full of people staring at me. Sometimes I like attention.. most the time I don't.. and especially don't like to be the center of it. But I gave in and hugged him back. I guess he needed some Valentines day love?

Bahamas pt 1

Ok so last month I got to go the the fantastic Atlantis in the Bahamas for the Pop Rocks Atlantis event.. It was gorgeous. I just wish I had done alot more touristy stuff, I was waking up so early that by mid day it was nap time for me, especially because of the late nights with the concerts and what not. I do think I need to learn to set the dang camera down every now and then though.

Though I do have to admit I walked onto the beach.. and remembered that I hate the sand. I also hate the sun because I burn easy, and lastly I hate to be wet... I'm probably the most pale person to return from the Bahamas. Now I know you're thinking the Bahamas is a horrible place for me to go. Well frankly I probably should have been wearing shorts and flip flops. So I guess the anger at the sand is my own fault. It was way pretty there though, the water was so clear. The weather was fantastic the entire time. I really loved the aquariums and marine life they had at the resort. I went through the predator tunnel and thought "Nsync totally stood here.." yeah I'm a loser.

It would have been cool to go snorkeling... and swallow my irrational fear of drowning (Cause I'm a totally fine swimmer). Maybe I should go see a therapist.. haha. Oh and I stumbled across the first ever Scuba Wedding at the resort. I thought that was pretty neat.

That last one is the scuba wedding with the giant manta ray swimming over them. I would totally go back in a heartbeat and try to be more beach friendly. My only warning to anyone going is that food is way expensive, but the food at the deli was almost reasonably priced.

Ok there's more to come, I have pictures from the morning interviews with the performers plus show photos! Sorry about the delay in getting these up. I keep saying sorry! I really am trying. But I'm also trying to be more rounded so I've been reading actual books and stuff lately. I figure learning big words from reading is beneficial.
I'm debating if I want to read the book "Into the Wild" sometime soon. Yes I've seen the movie, I was envious of the locations those photographers got to shoot on.

Look at that! I'm on a roll!

The Fray stopped by Dallas at the end of January to promote their newest self titled sophomore album. Selling out the House of Blues and stopping by Kidd Kraddick, so needless to say my day was Fray filled. The guys were very nice, taking lots of time to meet the fans that came up to see them at the morning show. The performance that night was good. I thought lighting was going to be horrible at first when it was a wash of reds and then they had these awesome lamps onstage light up synchronized to the music, and that was really cool, especially while shooting. It was odd though not knowing so many of the songs they were performing. They were great songs though. Fantastic album. Go pick it up, it's in stores now.

Rock Legends AC/DC stopped at the American Airlines Center last month. I was lucky enough to shoot them, didn't think we were going to send a shooter, so it was a pleasant surprise. The first number was incredibly smokey. Definitely a tough situation to shoot through. Other than that it was fantastic. Angus and Brian were rockin' it.

Ok so this will be it I think till I get back from out of town. I am almost caught up. Were in the year 2009.. that's always good. The first show I went to this year was Marc Broussard who I love to death. He was fantastic. I'd put it in the top 3 out of the handful of times i've seen him. His fans were dancing like I've never seen them dance before. Lighting was pretty good too. Yay House of Blues lighting guy.. yay! He's gotten much much better in the recent months.

Marcs openers were Josh Hoge and Sons of William. Who were both great as always. They even joined him on his most popular number "Home."

We also spotted Miranda Lambert's guitar player Scotty Wray at the show.

So Kidd had a bunch of musicians in for the final show of the year. It was in the "performance hall." Big Al dressed like an Elf and bands playing. Cant get better than that. Not to mention the Veronicas thought my "Commando Roll" was awesome.

November Part 3: Usher, Coldplay, and Graham Colton

Ok this will be my final installment for November. Then we can move to December which will be all Kidd Kraddick stuff because that's pretty much all I shot that month.. plus a couple symphony related things.. well and kids with Santa at a daycare for the owner whom I know.. exciting huh?

So the end of November I shot Usher for Sony Ericcson. That was cool being there for the tour sponsor. I shot the meet and greet as well as the performance, so we set up while soundcheck was going on so after I got done moving lights I just set my stuff down and watched the rest of soundcheck.

Usher had these catwalks that made it near impossible to get into the front barricade thanks to having to walk through the crowd. Fortunately the fans were nice and let me through. Lighting was great. It was pretty much one song, they said first 2 but I wouldnt count the first songs as an entire song since he wasn't on stage for most of it, however the second song love in this club had this entire dance break added into it. Here are some shots.

Next I got to shoot Coldplay! What did I learn from this experience.. well that Chris Martin loves to run around onstage like a lunatic, it was great. I also think that next time Coldplay comes to town I should get a ticket and go because what I got to hear from the concourse while editing photos was great. Here are a few from that

And lastly I shot Graham Colton at the House of Blues Pontiac Garage. It was an acoustic gig with Michael Tolcher, Bryan Greenberg, and Tim Brantley. It was great as usual, Graham did a lot of older material and some cool covers with the other acts, even a version of "Dancing in the Dark"

November Part 2: Kelly Clarkson & Reba McEntire, Amy Grant, and the Latin Grammys

So I wasn't joking when I said I was busy in November!

In a span of 3 days I was in Houston for the Latin Grammys, back in Fort Worth the next day shooting Amy Grant, and then off to Little Rock for Kelly & Reba. Talk about exhausted after that!

So we'll start with Kelly and Reba since it's the main thing pictured. Yes I'm playing favorites. The show was amazing, I'd say even better than the show in Bossier City. Not to mention the addition of Stuff Like That There was a great. Kelly hadn't done that song in a long time. We had a blast, and stayed at the Peabody and watched the ducks march on the carpet the next morning.

So the night before that I shot Amy Grant performing an entire set of her older material at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Her stage set up and lights were way better than I was expecting. It was a pretty good shoot.

And the night before that I was in Houston shooting the Latin Grammys. It was my first award show, red carpet experience. It was probably the worst night ever for my flash to be moody and it was. When we got into the Media room where they pose with the awards it was all good because I just set it to manual and bounced the flash. It was a good learning experience. Here are some shots.

November Part 1: Miranda Lambert, Melissa Lawson, and Nascar

Argh! Flickr just ate my blog!

Ok so I know I haven't blogged in like a month. But last month was really busy. And so right now I have a little time to try and play catch up. So this is my attempt.

I lucked out and got to shoot Miranda Lambert again. This time with Blake Shelton at the Texas Stampede. The paper covered her yet again and I love them for it! She's awesome every time I get to shoot her, I always get some great shots.

I have to say they were quite awesome with giving us 6 songs to shoot 2 songs of each and then 2 of them together. So while waiting between numbers we got to see about 10 songs in total. That was also cool because normally deadlines mean I don't get to see alot of the shows I shoot. I lucked out with her playing an early show in April though and got to watch a good chunk of the set.

The toughest thing about this shoot was the Stampede stage is always so tall, plus their sound wedges. So I shot blindly alot, holding my camera up and over them to get shots. And I got a pretty awesome one too. So as risky as it is to shoot like that, sometimes you luck out and get cool stuff. Anyway enough with my rambling. Here are some shots from the show.

So earlier in November I also got to shoot Melissa Lawson, the most recent winner of Nashville Star. She's also Arlington High alumni, so woohoo there! Also she's ridiculously nice because she was sitting behind us at the Carrie Underwood show, so I chatted with her a little. But here are some pictures from that and Melissa rocking to Hit Me With Your Best Shot.

And to top off this Countryfied entry I got to shoot Nascar which was a new experience. I've never really delved into to sports. But I enjoyed it, I even made friends with some of the Ryan Newman crew at Billy Bobs the night before the race, because while I was there working and shooting Melissa Lawson, they were making their annual visit to the Honky Tonk. But here are some photos from the Nascar Weekend..

The night before Halloween Carrie Underwood finally stopped in Dallas on tour. Sure she was here with the Idol tour and opening for Chesney a couple years ago, but not having headlined here yet was getting ridiculous.

When we got to the venue I was surprised they fit her catwalk in since it's a theater not an arena. Our seats were pretty awesome and this seasons Nashville Star winner (and my high school alumni) Melissa Lawson was sitting two rows behind us.

The show was good, it was kinda a sit down show as odd as that is. You would expect her crowd to be a stand up crowd, but there just aren't enough up tempo songs. My only real complaint was the need that she felt to change outfits like 3.5 times through out the show. Most artist I go to see either dont change outfits at all or change maybe once. I guess if you're doing it for theatrical effect and all that's cool.

Either way she sounded great. I had a meet and greet before the show and she was nice, kinda quiet but nice.

Ok I'm playing catch up! Got to shoot Neil Diamond a few weeks ago. I thought we were going to be soundboard, but we get there and his media wrangler lets us know we can shoot from 15 rows back. But we opted to stay in the cross behind the first section about 20 or so rows back. I was still glad I had the 300. But hey that's cool that we weren't all the way in the back. Yay Neil Diamond! Production for him was way simple. The only thing major was the stage platforms with the band moved. That tripped me out I was like whoa didnt see that coming.

Ok once again I'm overdue a blog! Sara Bareilles was here the night after Gavin Degraw. That was a heck of a week man. She had Marc Broussard with her, which was odd in a full circle sort of way. The first time I got to see Sara was when she opened for Marc at the Gypsy Tea Room in 2006. I was singing along to love song, back when its demo version was only existent on her myspace page. And she got way excited I knew the words and told the Audience she wanted to sprinkle some fairy dust and fly around the room. Good times.

I have to admit its odd seeing her with the LED lights and disco ball and production. She has her own photo pass.. it wasnt the generic house of blues pass. It's all exciting. I do miss the more stripped down stuff back when it was her, Javier, and Josh on his drum box. I'm happy she's doing well though because it means she can continue to make music and not be just scraping by.

My favorite moment was FINALLY getting to hear Between the Lines, live and in person. My only complaint about the entire show was the really tone deaf drunks next to us screaming the words to songs like City.. and Gravity.. I mean seriously? P.I. is not attractive if you're obnoxious.

Ok a bunch more to come. But I make no promises. I have to go to houston thursday and little rock saturday! I got to shoot Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton this past weekend. That was exciting and I didn't think we would cover it since we've covered her twice this year already at the paper. So a couple weeks ago Gavin Degraw stopped by for a show at the house of blues and an appearance at Kidd Kraddick.. which made for an amazing day on my end.

Gavin put on a fantastic show that night, not missing a note which was amazing since I knew he wasn't feeling 100%. Even doing an extra song which was what surprised me the most. I cant wait till he comes back to Dallas.

So I went to the New Kids show this past Sunday and lived out my 8 year old (like when I was 8 years old not 8 years) dreams of getting to see them. Sure it was you typical boyband show. But it was great. I was next to the B stage which was cool cause they sang 2 in the Morning on that stage and its my favorite track off "The Block" album.

Anyway here are some shots from my point and shoot.

Ok good times! So this week so far I've gone to Gavin Degraw then Sara Bareilles who had Marc Broussard open for her. Tomorrow is Ben Folds who has Missy Higgins opening for him and that's exciting. Then Saturday is Alanis Morisette. She's a tough shoot cause she doesnt stand still for one second if she's not strapped down with a guitar. Should be interesting.

So this past weekend was crazy I shot stuff like four nights in a row. Neil Diamond, Jessica Simpson, Michelle Branch, and then I attended New Kids on the Block but took my point and shoot. I will post some Neil Diamond later.

But here are some shots of Michelle. It was an acoustic set. She did a lot of new material from her upcoming album. It isnt going to be released until next year I think she said? It was a good set, no big production or anything. Plus her hilarious guitar player was just amusing. Lighting was tough when she was at the microphone because of this gross shadow being cast. Not to mention the stage being soo tall. I think I touched on that before But oh well.

Last weekend I shot Kellie Pickler and Rodney Atkins at the fair. Pickler was pretty entertaining. A cool thing (and hilarious at the same time) she did was signed autographs from the stage for like a good 10 minutes after he last song, all while the stage manager tried to get her off the stage. She ended up recruiting him to help her by holding tshirts that were being thrown. Those tshirts being thrown up to get signed, were funny because she was trying to dodge getting hit in the face with them. That's grade A entertainment by itself!

Ok so there's that. This weekend at the fair is Jessica Simpson and Michelle Branch. I also believe its the last weekend so my DFW folks! You should make it out there if you get the chance. Also last time I was there the DAR house had bottles of water and canned soda for $1.00 and then the building with the borden stuff in it has Tea, Milk, and Juice for $1.00 as well.

In other randomness Indiana Jones comes out today! Jon McLaughlins newest cd came out last week. It's worth picking up. Beating my Heart is growing on me, but i still feel like the first 3 tracks are the weakest lyrically on the album and it gets soooooo much better after that. I saw a more stripped down version of Beating My Heart and like it so much more than the album version.

Lots of good music is coming out this month. Ingrid Michaelsons new one drops this week, and I think the Hotel Cafe Tour (she's on it) is here this week as well.

Ok I'm gonna stop rambling on but I do want to say I just read this article about how the 3 song limit is ruining the art of music photography. And how many iconic images were shot during the last 3 songs of bands sets.

I shot Hanson on Sunday night. Its the first show of theirs I've been too since 2001. Which didnt mean I didn't still like them. I just didnt get tix before they sold out, and didnt want to camp out for 3 days for first row or anything like that. I stayed and stood back watching the whole show. The boys seemed pumped the tour was starting. I enjoyed Issac's Knee Slide during I want to say "Cant Stop"

Lighting was pretty descent. There wasnt a lot of smoke so the House of Blues lighting guy wasnt blowing out the back lights too bad. He still could have brightened the fronts a bit but he's getting better. It wasnt like shooting in a cave during Hanson's set. The Veronicas well that's another story.

So I shot this a couple weeks ago. Cross Canadian Ragweed puts it on every year. I didn't get to shoot them thought because of deadlines. They wanted us to shoot Gary Allen but he wouldn't let anyone shoot him from the pit.. yet fans had SLR's in the crowd.. seriously? Oh well that's life.

Anyway since I opted not to get there really early I got to shoot Reckless Kelly and Stoney LaRue who were both good shoots. I also shot Robert Earl Keen but it was a bunch of straight Yellow, Green, and Blue lighting so I wasn't really happy with any of it. It wouldn't have been as bad but he was wearing a hat that created a shadow so finding a balance was impossible.

I shot hanson at Kidd and the House of Blues this past week, so I should have a blog about that shortly. I'll be out at opening day for the Fair on Friday. Yep I'm fairing it up instead of ACLing it up. But the line up isnt all that great this year.

I need to add some shots to my portfolio on my website and this may be blasphemy to say on blogger but I was thinking about moving to wordpress and then i couldnt figure out how to use it. Like I'm not completely web builder impaired but I'm no web designer!

So I shot the Maroon 5 show this past weekend. Maroon 5 is always amazing. If you have the chance you should make an effort to go see them, especially if you like their music. The lighting for this tour was better than the last tour. With the exception that they didnt have the cool giant light up M in the background this go round. But I'm not that torn up about it because for some odd reason we were restricted to the sides.

And I totally get that its differnt for every venue, but this photographer does her research. And at other shows, many of them infact, the photographers were given free range to be in the middle and not just to the sides. I'm short, I wouldnt be that torn up if I was 8 feet tall, but trying to shoot around a 6 foot video guy on a riser is a heck of a challenge. That's all I'm saying. So who knows why we were stuck at the sides, but you deal with it and move on I guess.

Then there's this tiny part of me that wonders if there's a photographer at a stop right before Dallas on most tours that is messing it up for us. Like that one bad apple thing. Shooting too long or upsetting someone , so we get the punishment and shunned to the sides. Hey were not all bad, some of us can follow the 2 or 3 song rule, because we like not being banned from venues. I like being one of the photographers that can be trusted and respected.

Anyway I got some ok shots, the lighting was good, the band was great. Counting Crows wernt bad, they did a more acousticish set. I'm not big on them though, I'll admit.

In other coolness. I got sent an advancement of the new Matt Wertz cd coming out. And gave it the car test Tuesday. It's really good, and alot of the tracks yes, are on Matts other cd's, but Dave Barnes did the same thing when he released his latest album on Razor and Tie. So it makes sense. It's the songs that are big with Matts fans, and the songs that newbies will definitely like, for example "5:19" and "Red Meets Blue." A pleasant surprise was getting to hear Marc Broussard on one of the tracks, its just backing vocals but they are pretty prominent. So then I checked out the credits on the album and noticed Dave Barnes co produced it. Go Dave! Ha, and he also did some of the backing vocals as well. But long story short, it's a good album, I know Matt's been at it for a while with the whole music thing, so I do hope some more folks catch on and buy this album tuesday when it comes out.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers played American Airlines Center a couple weeks ago. Let me say they went out there and it was like hit after hit after hit from them. It was insane.

We shot first 3 from the pit and 3rd song in was I wont back down if that isn't proof enough, then the 5th song in which I heard while editing was Free Fallin.

While shooting lighting was ok. The spot lights were a little on the dim side but not too big of a deal. And the back ground set up was pretty cool with lights and screens and LCD boxes.

The American Idol Tour Season 7

Ok so I got to go to this show. And we scored some first row seats the day of, plus got to go to the pre show meet and greet. So it was quite the day of idolness. And I just would like to go ahead and profess my love for David Cook right now. He was the big reason for us going and was totally worth it. The guy knows how to work the stage. Plus that whole left handed guitar thing is kinda awesome. I actually have a full write up that I'll go ahead and post.

But I'll post some pictures since I know you want to see those first since this is a photo blog.

Ok Here's the write up!

So basically if you’ve never been to an idol tour its a smorgasbord of songs. A 30 something song set list. 10 different singers and generally some group numbers. What makes me kind of sad was the fact they majorly cut doing duets and group numbers now. Back during the first season the entire second half of the show was a mix of group numbers and a few solo songs by the top 3 from the show. And I really liked that formula.

But in the end I’m not going to complain about getting to see more David Cook and less Kristy Lee Cook. Sorry Kristy but it still boggles me how you got in the top 10 and stayed longer than Michael Johns.

I actually really enjoyed Michael Johns set, Brooke White was also impressive but I expected it from them, they were fairly consistent on the show. Syesha Mercado has some pipes on her and was amazing during the number Listen.

Carly Smithson while nice was a bit of a let down because she picked some songs that were pretty static for the most part. Ramiele also a really really nice girl, she is pretty young so I’m mostly going to hand it to inexperience. She can sing but didn’t pick anything impressive to do.

Jason Castro was exactly what you saw on TV. He can sing and play guitar, and while I dig singer songwriters, he just doesn’t really excite me. But once again a really nice guy. So there is room for me to be impressed in the future. This was his hometown stop though so a great deal of the crowd was there to see him.

Archuletta was everything you expected him to be. He tried to move around some but in the end he tends to stand there and sing, not doing anything incredibly exciting. To me he’s always been the guy that stands in one place and sings with his eyes closed.. While it seems that he’s trying to work on that, it’s obviously still a habit he has. He sounded great though. So the boy can sing his butt off. Which is impressive because he’s so young.

David Cook was obviously saved for last being the winner and all. He was definitely worth the wait though. Being one of the few who knew how to actually come out and perform. Playing it up for the audience, showing off on guitar and making sure to use all of the stage. At one point he took out his video camera and recorded the audience, saying he had been doing it every night.

A funny moment during his set was after one song he noticed a guy in the audience mimicking the faces he made while singing. Taking a moment to ask the guy in the audience if that’s what he looked like when he sang, and then thanking him for letting him know, because knowing the problem is the first step to fixing it.

The last number, a group song was all about having fun for the group. David Cook came out in a cowboy hat, Michael Johns was dancing up a storm. A good end to the night, even though I would have liked a couple more group numbers. I do have to say this is probably one of the most talented groups out of all the seasons yet.

Ok so a couple weeks ago I finally got to shoot The Dave Matthews Band! And their lighting was amazing. Not to mention they are like THE jam band. They played for I want to say over 2 hours. The venue was packed. I think it's the loudest singing along to songs I've ever heard. Walking back to my car during Everyday I could hear the crowd way out in the parking lot.

I also want to give my condolences to the band, their friends, and family, on their loss of Sax player LeRoi Moore. His unfortunate passing came a few days after I shot this show.

I shot the highly entertaining Weird Al a few weeks ago. I got to see a couple songs while I was editing because he went on so early with no opener. So I watched the Nirvana parody and part of the Star Wars set and peeked in when he was climbing over people in the audience in a pimp like red suit. The entire band was dressed in the jedi outfits so that was pretty funny. Too bad he didnt have any really great costumes during the first 3.

Well last Saturday I got to shoot this show. And while I'm not huge on Brad I do like him. His songs are amusing and the dude puts on a big show. There aren't too many gimmicks but entertaining videos on the screen and an amazing stage with lights out the wazoo. As a photographer I like that sort of thing because it adds alot of color to the shots you take. Plus in the audience its just visually stimulating.

Dont get me wrong I am all for an artist being amazing just by themselves. But a cool stage is always a nice addition to the talent. But Brad is definitely sick on guitar and a great songwriter and all. Plus he's all about having the audience close and entertaining them. He should be giving Chesney a run for his money on Entertainer of the year.

And I have to say this. The fans down in front were way nice and understanding about letting me in front of them for the first 3 songs to shoot (there was no barricade/photo pit) and this is a major trend I've noticed at country shows. They are exceptionally nice about it in every instance I've encountered at the shows with no barricade. At most shows no matter what genre people are incredibly reasonable if you explain to them you'll only be there for the first three to get your shots then you'll be out of the way. But I definitely have to compliment the country music crowd for being extra nice about it!

So originally for this show everyone had different song limits for shooting but when I got to the venue they had just gone ahead and said first three for everyone. Which was fine by me. The main reason the song limits were so odd was because on the songs you weren't able to shoot the artist tended to be down at the end of the catwalk. So it was understandable. But thanks to them dropping that limit I got this cool shot of Paisley you see here. Which was shot blindly because frankly I'm not that tall so I held my camera up and hoped to get something. So yay!

So last friday evening I spent it at the Gavin Degraw concert. Now yes I had seen Gavin a couple months ago at Taste of Addison, but he is one of my favorite artist so there was no way I wasn't going to go! Plus its Lakewood Theater which isn't a big venue but isn't too small either.

I actually think my legs just recovered from that whole stand around and wait to get in and stand in your spot or lose it thing. General Admission isn't it lovely. We were second row though so we were pretty well off. Definitely worth your legs hurting for a couple of days!

His opener Marie Digby seemed alright. I wasn't too into her, granted I could hear the drunks next to me better than I could hear her. So heck she could have been phenomenal and I wouldn't know because the drunk people were like talking like oh my god where did my shoe go like.. like someone get us more beer.. who is this chick again she sucks... like oh my god I'm way too old to be acting this immature and talking like this. Yes I just made fun of the drunk people again for the second entry in a row. Amazingly they shut up during Gavin! I was shocked quite honestly. And I cant feel that bad about making fun of them because venue security was laughing at their stupidity as well.

Ok so Gavin came out, to a different song than he used to, which surprised me, and his song he started with was Relative which was also surprising to see him come out on guitar and not just go straight to the Piano. As a photographer, if I had been in the photo pit shooting this show, that would have been a nice variety to get to shoot him on guitar for a song and out from behind the piano like he normally is for the first 3 songs. So bonus points Gavin.

He was definitely excited to be playing Dallas, I'm pretty sure it's one of his favorite cities to play, because he was bursting with energy. Not to mention he did say that playing Lakewood reminded him of playing a certain venue in his home town. Also I think that boy has been watching B.B. King or something because he was doing these little hip movements like B.B. would bust out the time I saw him.

The set list was good, he didn't do Meaning again. This made me sad. But he did do Untamed which was highly amusing because he had all these little hand movements to go with it. He explained the song was about how this girl he dated gave him a list of things he needed to fix about himself, sadly it's true that I think just about every guy and girl does this in relationships. But that's a song on the album I really like and I think it would do well on radio actually!

Chemical Party he's started it different, he may have done it this way at Taste of Addison but I dont remember. I totally thought he was going to jump into the audience during the "Proud Mary" portion of it. But nope, then during Young Love he starts to climb off the stage right in front of us, and of course havoc breaks loose. I do want to thank him for not climbing on the guard rail directly in front of us because people pushing against me is not fun. Also thanks to him not doing that I got some pretty cool crowd shots just cause we were at a perfect angle for it!

Before he did Cheated on Me he mentioned that it would be the next single, which makes sense since he just sang it on Leno like the night before. And at some point in the show Gavin was talking about playing El Paso and gave us an endearing rendition of the Marty Robbins song. Not so much, he did sing like two lines from it though.

After the show we went to the meet and greet which was like 200 people so of course it's rushed. I did let him know he always puts on a great show, and he said he loves to play Dallas and he signed my cd. Then I waited on my friend and before we walked off Gavin gave me one of those famous winks when I waved bye, And yeah I'll admit it, I got all giddy inside because of it.

So overall another amazing Gavin show. And when I thought I knew what to expect he surprised me by changing things up. If you've never seen him live. You NEED to. I'm not suggesting you go, I'm telling you to go.

So a week ago Graham Colton had a sold out show at the House of Blues Pontiac Garage which once upon a time was The Cambridge Room. Oh corporate sponsorship screwing the names of venues up!

His openers I didn't really see all of the first guy Patrick Ryan Clark. I actually got there after he had gone on, but I asked a very nice guy and his girlfriend who had some space infront of them if I could crouch infront of them for the show and they were more than happy to oblige especially since I was going to be crouching. Plus later on I became a buffer between them and the really really really REALLY drunk girls. The second opener Nelo wasn't bad, I kinda got a Will Hoge vibe from them, and there was a descent crowd just for them. They all seemed to stay for Graham though so that was good.

When Graham came out that boy was so excited the house was packed with fans, friends, and of course some of his family. He definitely had about 5x's the energy he had when I saw him do his acoustic show out in Plano. So that was good, I'd actually like to see him on an even bigger stage and see how he would work that on a number like Cigarette where he set his guitar down and let the band handle it. Speaking of the band they sounded good, definitely cool to see a full band show with the new band after seeing an acoustic show.

Speaking of acoustic, he did a 3 song acoustic portion during the set and brought his dad up on stage to play with him, which was cool. Now would be a great time to bring up the super drunk girls. They were so drunk by this point in the set one of them almost took out one of the sound wedges. Like almost pushed it over right on top of the guitar pedals and what not. And this always makes me question, why do you go to a show and get that wasted. I understand having a couple drinks, but so drunk you cant stand let alone remember the show, I will never understand that. And I of course seeing as how I was crouched was the first person they would grab on to before they would almost fall, and then, they would pet me.. as if I was a dog or something. DONT PET ME! If you're gonna fall fine grab my shoulder.. but dont pet me! My gosh!! One of the really drunk girls did do this really funny count off thing Graham used to do during Cigarette though and he couldn't help but laugh at it even. So I have to say there was a tad bit of amusement.

I have to say, he is 0 for 2 on the songs I wanted to hear most list. Those songs if you're wondering the oh so depressing "New Years Resolution" and then also kind of depressing but an upbeat depressing "Whatever Breaks my Heart." If you're reading this Graham.. play these two the next time I come to a show and shoot you in Dallas! (I like to pretend sometimes the artist actually see these things.....)

He just booked several dates, if he's coming to your area I do suggest going to see him if you like the singer songwriter genre!

So after the show I went by and said hi to Kathy.. shout out to Kathy with a K! Only she will get that, and who knows if she will read this? Maybe? Who knows! Then I went by and said hey to Graham, and I keep forgetting to ask him for a dang guitar pic cause I collect them and throw them in my scrap book with my photos and tickets and photo passes and all that good stuff. It's amazing how nice he is and how many time's he thanks me for coming out and taking pictures. No dude, thank you for not having a 3 song limit! I hate those things. That's all I'm sayin! When he gets big and famous I'm sure he'll have one though. Graham definitely gets better further into the show too! He starts off strong anyway, but with most artist the end is always more energetic.

Photographically, the House of Blues is always unpredictable. It's like night and day sometimes. But the Pontiac Garage/Cambridge Room seems to be pretty consistent lighting. Which makes it a little easier when the back light is even to the front. It's not great lighting but its even. The big room has this amazing lighting system but blows out the backs and dims the fronts which is just moronic to me that they cant light the artist right. It's moronic to me. But the person in the Pontiac Garage/ Cambridge Room has it down alright. They did go a little heavy on the magenta's though. Overall it was an Ok shoot. I cant wait for the day I get to shoot Graham in great light. That'll be amazing!

Or at least that's what I'm calling the slew of studio guests last week at Kidd Kraddick. There was Boys Like Girls, Good Charlotte, Metro Station, Billy Bob Thorton, Prima J, and The Flobots. So hey just a few artist!

And let me say on the Friday show, Del Frisco came in to cater breakfast and it was amazing. They had amazing fruit, amazing bacon, amazing tenderloin... not to mention the stuff I didnt eat but I'm sure was also amazing.. IE. French Toast, Eggs Benedict, etc etc. Yum!

So Boys Like Girls, i've gotta give Martin major props because he sounded good even though he had a Major case of bronchitis attacking him. He was equipped with the throat spray you so often see singers who've gotten sick using.

Good Charlotte were also cool, they played whatever kidd wanted. Which is cool cause he doesn't always pick the radio heavy stuff.

Thursday Billy Bob Thorton was way nice to everyone. Lots of folks wanted pictures with him and he so nicely obliged. It's probably easier when you have someone like me standing there just snapping person after person.

And Wednesday the Flobots came in. They even set up their drum kit. That's handlebars song is angry at the end. Wow. But I thought it was fairly awesome they had a violist in the group!

So I shot George Michael the night after I shot Lil Wayne. That's kinda like complete opposite ends of the music spectrum right there.

GM's stage was pretty cool with this like Giant LED screen behind him that flowed down and was part of the actual stage. It was a soundboard shoot unfortunately though and that's never any fun. They did have an elevated platform for us which was better than usual. But it was only the first song. You win some you lose some.

K104 Summer Jam w/Lil Wayne and more

So a couple weeks ago I shot a few of the acts at the K104 Summer Jam at Nokia Theatre. It was headlined by Lil Wayne, but there were several acts. The only person who had a set longer than 30 minutes was Lil Wayne though. Surprisingly it ran pretty much on time. Lil Wayne only went on about 20 minutes late or so and for a show with that many hip hop and rap artist that was impressive. Kudos to the stage manager for keeping things rolling so smoothly.

Things in the audience however were not as smooth. I dont know if i've seen that many people get pulled for fighting or other things at a rock show even. Sitting in the hall editing you get to see all these people get pulled out and what not. One girl hit some guy in the face with her shoe. That was probably the worst of what I saw. Why would you hit someone with a shoe? That's just crazy!

So I got there a couple hours after the event started, got my pass and went ahead and shot Pretty Ricky, Day 26, V.I.C, Plies, and obviously Lil Wayne. Ok have to admit I dont listen to Rap, if I'm listening to Rap, odds are its being played on the top 40 station, so this is not my genre of expertise.

V.I.C. was a pretty good shoot though, he did this dance during get silly, and It's always nice when the rappers aren't eating their microphones, because it's hard to get a clear shot when they do. Lil Wayne was pretty good about not eating his mic as well. Plies was really bad about eating his microphone though.

Pretty Ricky came out grinding all over the floor which I wasn't attracted to but the females in the audience didn't mind. And for a band called Pretty Ricky, they aren't exactly pretty. It's an oxymoron I guess. Day 26 was exactly what you would expect them to be. A dancing R&B boy band. And you can call them an R&B group but I think it's the return of boy bands so that's what I'm calling them. Plus boy bands rip off their shirts and dance in formation so! They are the latest group formed from Diddy's Making the Band.

So I started a blog and then my firefox froze up on me. Bad FIREFOX that's a bad bad firefox! I imagine the scolding will make it work better?

So as I said previously in my blog I never feature Drummer shots so I thought hey why not, plus its Zac Farro of Paramore!

Readers digest! I shot Warped tour a couple weeks ago for a local publication, i also wrote a review which i'll post here at the end of this. It was hot as heck, early in the day lighting was tough cause of stage placement and if an artist stepped out from the hang you had to change your settings super quickly and the amount of stop difference was insane! But later in the day it was better because the sun was going down and facing on the stage so it became more consistent which was fine with me.

I was most excited about Paramore who was great to shoot. Also excited about Gym Class Heroes and Cobra Starship who were both good shoots, I had shoot Gym Class before though so I knew they'd be good. Cobra it was first but Gabe is very active on stage. The singer for Say Anything was really expressive which was great while shooting them. Got some shots of the singer for Story of the Year while he was showing the crowd love. Wished I could have shot later in their set when the guitar players do flips off the amps. Angels and Airwaves weren't incredibly active but a better shoot than I was expecting. I missed the first 2 of Forever the Sickest Kids which was like bummer cause I hear they are a great shoot. It's hard to judge that off one song. And then Jack's Mannequin was a tough shoot because the two microphone stands instead of one.

Bands I didnt get to shoot because of schedule conflicts, Shwayze, Katy Perry, and Family Force 5.

Vans Warped Tour - Superpages.com Center July 3rd 2008

Vans Warped Tour 14 rolled into Dallas last week and we were there to cover as much of it as one human possibly could. For those unfamiliar with the Vans Warped tour, its a festival type tour full of assorted rock genre acts spread out over 2 main stages and 4 sub stages provided by sponsors such as Hurley and Smart Punk, and then 2 even smaller stages. One housing the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands area and the other next to the skate ramp providing music for the various extreme sport athletes on the tour. And that's just the stages, we cant forget to add in the tents full of band merch and sponsors. For example they had tents for Myspace (where they had acoustic performances), Rockband the video game (where you could show off your fast fingers and mad band skills), and Monster Energy Drink (where you could try the energy drink...) all to keep you entertained and provide some shade between bands. Not to mention if you were dying to meet some of your favorite musicians, some of the band and sponsor tents had artist signings during the day.

I had actually previously attended the Warped tour.. but that was six years ago. I was 18 and fresh out of high school, yet ironically it really hadn't changed that much. The stage layout was fairly similar, bottles of water were still outrageously expensive, and it was still hot as heck, possibly hotter. There was one big difference for me though, I wasn't in the pit with tons of bodies pressing against, and falling on me. There's nothing quite like getting kicked in the head by crowd surfers and having body parts bent ways they shouldn't bend. One doesn't forget that and how your body feels for the next 3 days. Funny enough some people do enjoy it, heck, several of my friends enjoy it. Though, I am not one of those people. I would like to try crowd surfing once in my life though, just to say I did it. But you can imagine with all the kicking in the head and rocking this year, like years past, once the bands started to get going the flow of bodies being led to the first aid area didn't stop either. I believe I saw a guy bleeding from the head, several girls passing out, and even a guy with a broken wrist.. all of whom got re-hydrated, bandaged up, and got back out there to rock out and have a good time.

And I have to admit being the wimp that I am, I'm not going to lie, it's nice being on the other side of the barricade.. you still have to be on your toes though and watch out for flying bodies or water bottles or anything else the crowd decides it wants to throw in your direction. So you're not completely in the clear, just not in the direct line of fire. Security tries to watch out for you too, so they deserve some major recognition at events like these.

So lets delve into the first band I watched, Cobra Starship from New York and on the fueled by ramen label. Cobra's front man Gabe Saporta came out in white pants and a black shirt with colorful writing, topped off with a puff painted white hat with Cobra's written across the underside of the brim, sunglasses, and my personal favorite portion of his attire a necklace with a photo of Justin Timberlake on it. He's pretty consistent about his colorful amusing clothing choices.

During their first song the stage actually lost power to some of the instruments Keytarist Victoria Asher and Drummer Nate Navarro weren't in the mix. After the song ended Gabe gave us some insight on what was going on in his head during that saying "About halfway through the song you realize you cant hear your band mates instruments because they aren't working.. and you have to make a decision to keep going or to stop.. but this is warped tour and we only have 30 minutes so I kept going." All was fixed after about a 30 seconds of Saporta talking to the audience and heckling another band member to sing by himself and the show went on. He is definitely the energy in the band running around on stage, hip thrusting, swinging his microphone around over his head, doing gigantic leaps off the drum platform granted the bassist is given honorable mentions for his bouncing around with his Chanel Bass during their song "The City is at War." Their most well known song "Bring It (Snakes on a Plane)" was saved for later in their set where they were joined by William Beckett of the band The Academy Is, ending the number with a little bit of Gwen Stefani's "Holla Back Girl" more appropriately changed to Holla Back Boy.

The next band I watched and shot was Say Anything back on the main stage where Cobra had just performed. I had never seen them so it was a first for me and let me just take the time to say their singer Max Bemis is nuts, but in a good way. He's incredibly expressive, tossing his microphone around, and likes to lean out and get close to the crowd, while their guitar player was thrashing his long hair around rocking out. This was the first I really saw crowd surfers coming over the barricades and we got the pleasure of seeing a banana crowd surfing.. or at least a kid in a giant banana suit crowd surfing. Pretty amusing if you ask me. Their most memorable songs for were probably "Shiksa" and "Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too" where they got the crowd all clapping along.

So after Say Anything I was hot as heck so it was time for a shade and water break, because at Warped Tour those things are essential. But after the short 30 minute break it was time for Gym Class Heroes back at the main stages, main stage left this go round.

When Gym Class stepped out on stage I was quite surprised to see their frontman Travis McCoy walking without the cane he was using off stage. He blew out his knee a few stops before Dallas, apparently for the 6th time or so. He wasn't as mobile and he took it a little bit easy on the running around aspect. I had seen them before and he is normally all over the place. But I was pleasantly surprised to see him sans cane and all silly faces like usual. They started with "Clothes Off" and I shouldn't have been that surprised or shocked that Travis started to undo his belt which wasn't really holding his pants up but we can pretend that's what it was there for. I should have expected something like that from him, and it got the reaction he wanted from the female crowd. They also did some new stuff from their upcoming release "The Quilt" including a song titled "Peace Sign" where they got the crowd throwing up their peace signs and the bird all in one song. Travis then took the time to touch on the incident that had happened a couple days previous in St. Louis. He apologized to anyone who saw the video on youtube or read the story on the net. But then also stated that he hates when people say stupid stuff like that. And on one end he's right, what the fan said was wrong, but two wrongs dont make either of them right, or at least I think that's the moral of the story here? After apologizing he kicked it back into their set. Ending on a high note with "Cupids Chokehold" joined by the singer of the band We the Kings both he and Travis getting off the stage and onto the barricades to show the fans down front a little love.

Right after Gym Class was over Jacks Mannequin was playing on the other Main Stage, and he jumped right into the well known stuff with the song "Dark Blue." Jacks Mannequin for the most part is just Andrew McMahon. It's pretty piano driven and that's Andrews forte, so his set was a bit of a breather to all the heavier rock. But Andrew's really no rookie to Warped Tour, he played the year I had previously gone with his band Something Corporate at the time. But Jacks Mannequin's songs don't sound like Something Corporate. Andrew was sporting the shaggy blonde hair look, I actually think it looked better buzz cut and dark, but in 02 he had the shaggy blonde look, so the buzzed hair might have been a side effect of his bout with cancer, but good for him for jumping back into the music scene and not letting such a life effecting ordeal effect him more than it had to. Mannequins set while more mellow than some of the other acts still had the crowd singing along to every word, especially during the song "Mix Tape." He ended his set by playing piano with his feet, which is something that cant be described, you should probably make an effort to go see it.

After Mannequin I made my way to go catch some of the local boys Forever the Sickest Kids set, they were already two songs in and bringing the energy. Crowd surfing fans flying over the barricade and front man jumping down onto the barricade to get up close and personal with the fans. The bassist making faces and just having fun. I unfortunately only got to see a couple songs before booking it back to the main stages to catch Angels and Airwaves. I would have liked to have seen more of them though, they seemed pretty high energy and fun. I'm sure they'll be back though, seeing as they are from DFW and all.

So I got back to the main stage just in time as the Angels and Airwaves intro of sirens was playing, and it wasn't exactly easy maneuvering through the packed in fans. Their set was probably the second largest draw of all the acts, no doubt thanks to the fact their front man is Tom DeLonge formerly of Blink 182. This band was definitely one of the crowds favorites, and the band came out jumping right into the first song. Right away they were getting the crowd to clap along, they didn't have to make them sing, they were doing that all by themselves word for word during every song. It probably helped that the second song they went into was "Everything's Magic" which was played out the wazoo in a commercial a few months ago. Tom was all about the rocking stances.. I think my favorite though is what I like to call the "rock fist." But out of their whole set, what stands out for me the most personally didn't even involve the band. It was when I had my camera up to my face shooting the third song and took it down for a second to wipe the sweat from my hand, yes my hands were sweating (it was that hot!), and noticed a flip flop flying straight for my face. I lifted my hand up next to my face as if to "give someone the hand" and that's exactly where the flip flop made contact before falling to the ground. Cat like reflexes! They're important at warped tour due to flying shoes, water bottles, and whatever else someone decides to throw. Just a little tip to watch out for.

Next band up that I watched was "Story of the Year" who were sadly on when the band Family Force 5 was on, who I would have liked to have gotten to see, but I opted for Story of the Year. And they came out running around and jumping all over the stage. Singer Dan Marsala wasting no time getting his head banging, and during the first or second song he was already off the stage, onto the barricade and into the crowd diving right in. Later in their set the guitarist did backflips off their amps. Tossing their guitars to the techs across the stage before jumping onto and off the amps. That would have made a pretty awesome picture had it been in the first 3. They finished up their set with their probably most well known song "Until the Day I Die." The crowd definitely loved them and they were incredibly energetic during their set even in the sweltering sun.

So finally the Holy Grail of warped tour for me. The band I wanted to see more than any of the other bands (and I wasn't the only one, seeing as how they had the biggest crowd).... Paramore. The lucky thing is that they were even on the tour at all, let alone the Dallas stop. I think they did a whole six tour dates of warped tour and we lucked out, mostly because Paramore had their own tour planned already, can't hate on them for that. They opened with "Let the Flames Begin" kind of an awesome name for the song they opened with, also an awesome song to start with. The band came out rocking right up on the edge of the stage and Hayley running around head banging, hair flying everywhere. While the entire band deserves credit for their musical skills and incredible energy. You have to hand it to Hayley, who is a great frontwoman, sounding better than ever and singing with such attitude, which is great especially during numbers like "That's What You Get" and "Misery Business." I'm sure the audience singing along word for word and pumping their fists in the air only added to the energy she was giving out. But too much energy is bad, mid set she had to ask the folks in the crowd to stop pushing cause she thought they were going to kill each other if they kept it up. My favorite moments had to be Hayley throwing in the rap song "Low" into their song "CrushCrushCrush" just for humor factor alone, and towards the end of the set when she let the audience know she could die right there under the sun and be happy.. then she tried to take it back, only to decide not to take it back but to leave it there for everyone to think about before jumping right into their hit "Misery Business" to finish their set with a bang. I would go see them again in a heart beat without having to think twice.

To finish my day off I headed over to the Ernie Ball stage to watch Nothing More who are friends of mine, and won the Battle of the Bands last year in San Antonio. Allowing them to play on the Ernie Ball Stage at 5 shows this year. These boys are from San Antonio and have a descent following packing the house at home town shows and playing with bands like Miser when in Dallas. This was actually the first time I had seen the band since they went through a loss of a guitar player and a change in singers. I have to admit Johnny singing will take some getting used to because I'm used to the more gritty vocals of their ex front man Trey Graham. Johnny's vocals are similar but smoother/softer. The boys sounded good, just a tad bit different from normal. I was also very glad to see them pull out some of the crazy drum antics as usual, including the 3 man bass solo. Also glad to see them still full of energy as usual. They're in an adjustment period, but I really think I was the only one who could tell, because the folks that were watching their set, most hadn't seen them before so they're indifferent.

After watching the Nothing More boys I packed it up and headed home, crashing and sleeping like a baby that night. Exhaustion, body pain, and a little bit of sunburn on my ears was the aftermath, but it was completely worth it. With such a wide assortment of artist its hard not to like even just the idea of Warped Tour, there's something for just about everyone, which is probably why it's been going for 14 years. I have no doubt it will be here next year and many years to come.

Warped Morning Extravaganza

At least that's what I'm calling it. Thursday was a level of insane schedule wise for me.

It started with 4 of the Warped tour artist/bands coming in to the studio. Plus Freddy who if you dont know who he is I'm sure I've mentioned him in a previous blog or you can go to Kiddlive.com to find out.

So first in studio after Freddy was Gym Class and I felt kinda bad that Travis was having to walk with a Cane. He blew out his knee apparently for like the 6th time or something. They chatted for a bit and did one of the new songs off their upcoming album called "The Quilt"

Next up was Paramore. I was incredibly excited about that. Haley's aunt was there and rocking her Paramore shirt. Apparently she's a frequent listener of the show so that's cool. But they sound checked and while they were doing that I went into the studio and first thing Haley did was smile and wave which was cool that she was all friendly like that. Then they interviewed and then Haley warmed up during the break. She was jumping around in the hall and stuff which sounds silly but it isn't. It gets the blood pumping and she's the jump around rock out type so it makes sense to loosen up like that. They did two songs which were both awesome. It was neat getting to hear the acoustic versions of the songs.

After Paramore was Katy Perry. I saw Haley give her a hug on her way out of the studio. Katy was pretty funny, there were a few awkward moments thanks to Al, but that's Al for ya. Katy played it up for the camera a little which is always cool. And does anyone else think she looks like Zooey Deschanel?

Last up was Forever The Sickest Kids. They had just been in studio not that long ago. And they played Hey Brittany again. So it wasn't anything completely new. But they are always good to shoot. One of the guys really hams it up and is all about making silly faces. Anyway here are some of the shots from the studio.

Okay so that's that portion of the day. I actually shot warped tour after that, and then to cap the day off took my dog to the vet because he wasn't feeling well and was being way lethargic which isn't normal for him. And that was an adventure in itself. So by the time I got home and went to sleep I had been up for 22 hours and slept for 2 1/2 the night before. I was tired needless to say.

The Toadies were at the Ridglea last weekend and I got to shoot that. I wanted to shoot Rascal Flatts, but we didn't cover it, and I like the Toadies too so I wasn't torn up over it or anything.

So the Toadies are back together and have several shows around the US coming up and they just booked another DFW show in August I think. All of it is to promote their upcoming album. It's good to see the Toadies back and touring, doing more than just local radio shows and the St Patricks day gig.

So the Ridglea show sold out in 45 minutes and frankly I've never seen the Ridglea packed that tight. I had a hard time getting to the photo pit, thank god there was a photo pit, that show would have been nuts without one due to crowd surfers and what not. Plus it just makes my life easier when there is one.

So when I got there I found out they weren't going on till 10:30.. naturally when my deadline was and when I was supposed to be shooting another assignment. Long story short I stayed at the Toadies shot my 3 songs and hauled butt over to the offices to edit and transfer and they sent a staffer over to the other assignment.

Right before the Toadies came out the crowd started chanting and cheers erupted when they stepped on stage. I honestly do not remember what the first two songs were because that was a bit of a blur of me trying to figure out the lighting because it's not the worst at the Ridglea but it isn't the best either. So finding the balance is tricky. I do know the third song was "I Come From the Water" and I sang along as I shot. Then after that hauled it out of there as quick as possible cutting out the back door.

Well Friday evening Dave Barnes rolled through town again. This time as the opener for Johnny Lang. He's actually picked up quite a few opening slots with some heavy hitters like Johnny Lang, One Republic, I think is opening for Bonnie Raitt a couple times.

Apparently it was Dave's birthday, and I had no clue, and while the crowd was mostly there for Johnny some of the Dave fans in attendance yelled out Happy Birthday Dave between songs. I've liked Dave for several years now so I feel like a bad fan for not knowing that.

I think his set was only about 30 minutes but there were alot of people packed in there when he was on. After his set some folks asked me what his name was, I told them they should definitely check him out some more and get his cd. So I feel as if I did my part in spreading the gospel of Dave Barnes.

I seemed as though the crowd received him well and was pretty amused when he made a joke about showing Johnny some stuff on guitar. "Yeah I taught him some licks earlier.. I think he's picking it up." Gotta love the sense of humor, random funny stories, and back and forth audience banter that makes a Dave Barnes show what it is. To me that's the icing on the cake.. the cake being the great music. Mmm cake.

Ok seeing as how I didnt snatch a set list I'm going to try my best to remember the songs off the top of my head. They aren't in order I dont think, but they're darn close!

So after Dave there was a bit of a line to meet him so I went in and shot the first three of Johnny's set because when in Rome take photos of everything? Johnny had a spotlight so I was kinda like wow that would have been nice for them to have used during Dave's set. So in the photo's the light is obviously a tad bit better. The first two songs for Dave was like shooting in a cave because once again, like I said in the entry before this one for Natasha. The lighting guy needs to turn up the fronts and not blow out the back lights. And he knows how to do it because he did on the 3rd song of Dave's set!

But ok so after I shot Johnny I wandered back out into the merch area where Raymond was talking to Dave and so I waited behind him and Dave looked over Ray's shoulder and got this HEY! excited look on his face. So after Ray was done, Dave was like "Wow it's been a while!" and then I told him I had been at the recent shows but just been lame and hadn't been hanging out after. I used the lame excuse of getting old. To which his response was "Tell me about it, today I'm officially old." And I asked how old was that? And he said "30 today." To which my response was "That's not bad.. and Well 50 is the new 30 so I think you're alright" to which he pointed out that in the future we were all going to be frozen anyway.

So after saying hi to Dave I actually headed out. I had seen Johnny before and he's amazing live, I do suggest going to see him and his mad guitar skills. But I had all my gear with me on my back and was hungry and had a dog at home that was hungry too. I always feel bad leaving him home alone for too long. He's kind of like a child. If someone else had been home with him I may have stayed for a little while longer. But it was sold out and packed.

Now I think I've touched on this before, but at a place like The House of Blues or heck more venues than that, but this one in particular if you're near the back people seem to prefer to talk to each other which is more like yell at each other. Opposed to respect and watch the musician on stage. I completely get commenting here and there on the song or something that just happened, and I don't exactly expect everyone to give their complete attention to the opening acts necessarily. But you're there to see the headliner. If you want to talk, it would be way less straining to go outside and talk, or heck dont even waste your money on the ticket, just stay home and put in the cd and talk there. Patrons aren't there to listen to you talk. It's just disrespectful to the artist and its disrespectful to the people actually there to see the artist and HEAR the music.

I will say very cool moment though. Hotel Cafe Tour 2006 at Gypsy Tea Room. One act had already played a few songs and there was this constant chatter going on. Sara Bareilles gets up onstage and by the second verse of her song silence had filled the venue. She had everyone in that rooms complete attention. Which was amazing. The only other time I think I've heard a room silent is when Gavin Degraw was commanding it and hushing the crowd and showing off by singing without a microphone on "Let's Get It On."

Verizon Tour: Natasha Bedingfield, The Veronicas, and Kate Voegele

Last week the Verizon Tour rolled through Dallas. Headlined by Natasha Bedingfield with support by The Veronicas and Kate Vogele.

Kate I had seen that morning at Kidd Kraddick and so it was cool to see her doing a full band thing. I had never seen the Veronicas and they sounded great, for having such upbeat songs they weren't quite as active as one would have hoped, but I liked them none the less. In their defense they had to cancel performing at Kidd Kraddick because one of them was sick. So maybe thats why they didn't work the stage much that night. They didnt cancel their set so you gotta respect that.

I only got to see the first three for Natasha then I had to edit the shots for quick turn around. But I did get to hear alot of the show from out in the hall. She sounded great and when I was shooting the first three she was all over the stage. Stopping occasionally at the microphone stand in the middle but mostly working the length of the stage. Dancing with her back up dancers, waving to folks in the crowd and what not.

And I have to say the lighting wasnt quite as awful as it normally is at the Dallas House of Blues. See I hope if I say it enough in the blog maybe the lighting guy will see it and figure out how to turn up the fronts and not blow out the back light. Because I had a shoot there last night and the lighting was horrible blown out behind and like minimal on the front. I'm not there to shoot silhouettes. Are you lighting the artist for the band or the audience? Because seriously the band are the only people that can see the musician when you do that.

Tuesday morning Kate Voegele was in the studio! The Veronica's were also supposed to be there but Kate said Lisa was sick. So they are forgiven even though its sad cause Aussie accents are so awesome. Speaking of Aussies my friend Lynnie will be here in September!

Ok but back on topic! Kate Voegele! Who I've known of for a while thanks to Toms myspace pimping. But most recently she was added to the cast of my favorite show "One Tree Hill." So I was excited to get to see her do some acoustic songs.

Kidd actually asked her to do the version of Hallelujah she did for One Tree Hill and it was great. I'm a sucker for that song though. On another side note she was incredibly nice and outgoing.

FTSK (I just really wanted to use that) was at Kidd Kraddick last week. Their cd had just come a little over a week before that and I think they've been on a small break from touring.

I'd heard the name before and up until recently didnt realize they were a local band. When Metro Station was in they mentioned touring with Forever the Sickest Kids.

They seemed like cool guys. I'm definitely going to try and shoot their set at Warped Tour next month.

Well I've been out at so many of these shows the past two weeks its insane. And tonight it continues.

But I was glad to get to shoot the South Austin Jug Band. I shot them last year at the concerts in the gardens as well. They're enjoyable and definitely worth checking out. It's an eclectic vibe and I wouldnt exactly pin them as a certain genere, maybe folk. They are playing the ACL Fest later this year. I guess think the whole Asleep at the Wheel kind of vibe. That same weekend the concerts at the gardens had them as well so I imagine they were going for a certain sound.

Miranda Lambert headlined Wolf Dance 2008 this year, and I actually didn't think we'd cover this since we just covered her a month ago. But to my surprised I got asked to cover it and my response was I'd love to.

The more I get to see and cover this girl the more I like her. She brings it with a ton of energy and rocks out. Last go round I got to watch more of the show. But since deadline was a bit tighter this go round and I had to walk like a billion blocks to get to it back and forth that ate up some time.

A really cool thing was that she changed up the set list from the last time I shot her. And this time I got to shoot for the first 3 not just first 2.

Ok Well here are some more shots from the show. Lighting was like really odd. They had spotters, but they had the spots turned down lower than they had the front stage lights. So When Ran was at the Microphone the front stage lights would blow out the shots. Then the second she'd move back from the mic would have to throw the shutter speed down a couple notches. I know this isn't a common deal with her its just a per event basis at radio shows and what not. The spotters should have cranked it up a little more though and toned down on the fronts.

Another random not is I love the shots with the green light behind her. I just like how they turned out.

Ok lastly congrats to Miranda on winning best album at the ACM's.

Shot Tanya Tucker Saturday at Billy Bob's. The lighting wasn't bad. It varies so greatly there dependent on artist. But most the time it's atleast descent as it was that night. I'm almost always able to shoot at 1600 or below which is always good.

Tanya was pretty good. She's sorta a big deal in country music and all. Her act was really choreographed and what not. And I'm ok with that. I do like a little spontaneity in my musicians though.

Anyway here are a few shots. Sorry I'm a tad bit short for words on this one. I didnt stay too long I shot till my card was full which was about 5 songs then I left.

Ok I just realized I've had these up on flickr for days and have yet to blog about this show from over a week ago. BLONDE! In my defense I am like a dirty blondish shade of hair color.

But I got to shoot what seems to be the coveted Radiohead show. It was the last one on the first leg of the US Tour as well. And very very sold out. I feel kinda bad because I'm so unappreciative of them too. Like I get that they are good music but I just dont get it. But atleast I know I'm unappreciative of some good music. Other good music I'm totally appreciative of.

So technicalities of the show. They dont use spotlights. Now I'm ok with just stage lighting. It's tougher but this is where most live music shooters get started is under crap lighting conditions. But man those back lights were bright sometimes. So it was crappy light and great light all at the same time. Their lighting was an oxymoron! They had these really cool lights that came down and glowed and stuff which they only used during the 3rd song and after unfortunately. We shot first 3. Typical.

I still got some pretty descent stuff when I was expecting to get crap. On Youtube there's a hilarious video from this show from "Exit Music" of Thom kinda scolding a guy that hollered out. About all I could make out was "Oh you're a funny guy aren't you?"

You know when I think of Radiohead I think of the episode of Southpark where Cartman writes a letter saying some kid is dying and loves Radiohead. And its all an elaborate plan to embarrass that kid. That episode is so ridiculous.

Ok so random but yay David Cook won Idol. Now I pray they dont make him release some piece of crap album and let him be artistic because obviously the guy is. He's the only one who really changed up the music on his songs this year.

In other randomness there's a really weird Alanis Morisette video on right now.

Ok enough of the Randomness! I shot Leslie Jordan tonight. It was hilarious.

So a week ago I got to shoot the Alicia Keys tour. And I have to say that the lighting was great. We were incredibly well informed before the show started. Which is always helpful to know what to expect. Shout out to the tour publicist. Ha. We got to shoot the first two. Both in which Alicia was up and dancing around for.

And frankly alot of critics keep busting her for that. But I think she just wants to get out from behind the piano for a few songs, and that should be Ok. Diversity in a show isn't a bad thing, and Alicia has already proven she is a talented musician behind the piano. To criticize Alicia for getting out from behind the piano is almost like criticizing Madonna for getting behind a guitar during her shows.

While out in the hall editing my shots I got to hear a good deal of the show and she sounded great. I caught myself singing along to some of the songs I knew.

Ok well I should have Radiohead up sometime in the near future. I'm having Kidd Kraddick withdrawls. Not because they just havn't had any guests in like a week, just cause I haven't seen the wonderful folks that work there in like a week.

So Tuesday Jordin Sparks was in studio at Kidd Kraddick and she was so nice it was ridiculous. I have no bad things to say about her. She took the time to introduce herself to even me the unimportant girl with the camera.

There's been all this drama surrounding her about having to go on vocal rest. But she sounded great. No signs of anything wrong with vocals. During one of the breaks she was saying she only liked green gummy bears and same thing with only liking pink and red starburst.

During that same break I had a friend ask me to bring it up so I asked her about Idol Forums where she was a frequent poster before she was even on idol, and she still posts there now even. She funnily enough said she checked it that morning. And I think its kind of cool that a big fan of the show won the show. But now I have this vision in my head of Jordin waking up in the morning and first thing checking the Idol forums. She also said she was sad to be passing the idol crown. Then I proceeded to talk about how I'm pulling for David Cook especially after his performance Mariah Carey week. And she said she really liked his Billie Jean performance. She also mentioned she was sad Michael Johns got kicked off.

I dont normally get pictures with the artist but I definitely got one with her as did like everyone there. And after it she said something about writing a song (BLANK) is for lovers. I forgot what the Blank was. But she said something cause I was wearing a Texas is for Lovers shirt on. And now I feel bad for forgetting.

But Jordin was so nice. And sounded great. I know I say alot of folks are nice because they are but man she's definitely up near the top of the list for niceness.

So I lucked out last monday and got to shoot the Simple Plan show. And I have nothing but great things to say about these guys. I can honestly see why a friend of mine loves them so much. Makes you want too move to Canada if everyone is this nice, well if it wasn't so cold.

The lighting wasnt amazing but it wasnt bad either. It was just all over the place so I tried my best to keep up. And this band moves around alot. I almost too a Bass to the face! One of the security guys I see at alot of events was laughing at me when I did this almost sort of limbo matrix move to dodge it. My best shots are of Jeff. The lighting by him was phenomenal.

The band and crowd definitely was all about the interaction. Pierre got up close by jumping into the pit area and got the crowd clapping, singing, and waving along with him. And David was quite chatty and pretty funny.

So Monday at Kidd Kraddick Simple Plan and Ferras were both in studio to perform.

To your right you will see Simple Plan busting out their New Kids on the Block moves, and actually a surprising amount of New Kids knowledge. BUT funny enough later that day after their show in Dallas Pierre was saying how he loved the New Kids back in the day, but hey didnt everyone. They were a really good interview and their songs sounded great acoustically. They went outside and mingled with the fans afterwards. Really nice and fun guys.

After Simple Plan, Ferras was in studio. For those of you that dont know, he has the Hollywood's Not America song. I think his style is kind of a young elton john vibe. And he was also really nice. Talented singer songwriter, so I'm hoping for good things for him.

So Dolly had the last stop of her Backwoods Barbie Tour at Nokia Theatre on Sunday night. It was from the soundboard which sucks but you deal with it.

One surprising thing was she had an intermission and no opening act. I only know this because I edit and transmit on location, and while I was doing that I could hear the show.

She was quite chatty and funny though. Talking to the audience, she told one girl who was dressed similar. that they both bought the same sparkly dress from walmart. And stated that it took alot of cash for her to look like trash.

Gavin Degraw at Taste Addison

So the amazing Gavin Degraw played the Taste of Addison last friday. And I've seen him several times before and he always puts on a great show. Even at outdoor festivals he tries to make it intimate. Jumping off stage to touch everyone in the front row and run down the middle area that lead to where the soundboard was. So not only is he entertaining but incredibly talented. One heck of a singer songwriter. I just find myself enamored when I watch him. Plus his piano is now sparkly so my eyes are drawn in that direction!

Ok so I have to admit, I didnt think I was going to get to shoot this. I just lucked out majorly since I was there with the Kidd Kraddick folks to shoot Freddy's set. And I got lucky cause after that I had backstage access which isnt as glamorous as you'd think. But there was a VIP tent that had free drinks. Yay for free drinks!

So I shot the first two songs with the other photographer whom I've shot with on a few other occasions. And then I put my camera away and sat down on the grass infront of the barricade and watched his set. After a couple songs Kidd Kraddick and Carmen from I-Nine came down and sat behind me and were watching too. Carmen was grooving to "Cheated on Me."

I have to admit I was sad he didnt sing "She holds the Key" or "Untamed" and off the old album I would have liked to have heard "Meaning" since its my favorite track off that one.

Secondhand Serenade was at Kidd Kraddick on Friday. He seemed really happy to be there. And I asked to shoot the tattoo on his arm and he then showed me his typewriter tattoo on his leg as well.

He went outside and met with the fans afterwards and was all about making goofy faces.

So last Tuesday I believe it was, Colbie Caillat was at Kidd Kraddick. She did a couple songs. Chatted a bit. She seems far less nervous than she used to in interviews. Because on Ellen a while ago she seemed really nervous. Her band was all really nice as was she. Pretty laid back.

Her guitar was cool. It said coco on it and it just looked really nice. Dino said she was pretty and I said it was because she was from California and everyone is pretty out there, its like in the water. Must be the pacific ocean or something. Granted that isnt to say if she was from another state she wouldn't be pretty too.

Graham Colton at YAC Fest

So last Saturday I spent my day out in Plano at YAC Fest. I was there to shoot Graham Colton who I guess you could say is up and coming, but in reality he's been around for a while and has opened for some huge artist. Previously to just being Graham Colton, he was Graham Colton Band, and I think before Graham Colton Band he was just Graham Colton.

You may have heard his song "Best Days" all over the tv. It was the goodbye song they were using on Idol this season until they replaced it with Rubens crap of a song that makes no sense. It's also been used on a bunch of tv show promo's. You may have also seen him on one of several talk shows as well because he's been making the rounds. If you dont have his album "Here Right Now" go pick it up. It's pretty cheap at places like Target. And little photographer nerd tidbit, the album art was shot by Jeremy Cowart, who is amazing.

So on to the show!

So I hadn't met Graham before, but I had seen him before several time's when he opened for Kelly Clarkson. But I have to say Graham was incredibly nice as were the people with and associated with him.

He got there 2 hours before he was supposed to go on and was setting up his own merchandise actually. It was funny because he was like "I like it.. its old school!." He was also pretty excited because he got to drive down in his own car since Oklahoma is so close. I told him Plano was about an hour from me cause I lived in Arlington. He said he had some gigs there back in the day when he was going to SMU. I asked if it was at "dreamworld" cause honestly that's the only venue in Arlington I can think of really. And he thought that sounded right. I told him it was the cool place to go when I was in high school.

Later in the evening when this other not so great band was on, they go this is our last song. Apparently last song means were liars and we have 2 more songs after that to do. One of those 2 songs was I want to say Criss Cross' "Jump Jump"and Graham leaned over and goes "This is the stuff you remember" Cause I'm pretty sure everyone was standing there thinking what the heck?

So after the horrible band we all went down by the stage and Graham got set up and sound checked, and then he had one of the girls working the show gave him a Stadium style introduction. Onstage Graham was surprisingly chatty. But hey that's ok stories are always fun. I especially enjoyed the hockey game one with the kid that would skate across the ice and slam into the speakers and stage. That and the "letter" jacket song he made up on the spot. Cause in high school boyfriends give their girlfriends their football letter jackets and stuff. And he said his girlfriend wouldn't have worn his. Also pretty funny when he forgot the words to his own song that he wrote "If love was enough." I also just want to say it was cool getting to hear acoustic versions of the Graham Colton Band songs like "Cigarette" and "First Week"

After the show he asked if I got some good shots and I told him I'd have to see on the computer. He then apologized for chomping on his gum the whole time. But honestly it didn't seem to affect the photos. There's a couple where you see him chomping but not many.

I wish the show had been more publicized cause a bigger crowd would have been awesome and I know he's got a following here in the DFW area.

Last monday Ray J and Finger Eleven both dropped by Kidd Kraddick. Both interviews were pretty good. They tried to get Ray J to sing but he wouldn't so instead he had to listen to Shanon sing. Which was pretty funny. Hearing Shanon go "Can I hit it from the front can I hit it from the back" is forever burned into my mind at this point. Ray J also took the time to give a thanks to "Trojan" I was almost rolling on the ground laughing when he said that on the air.

So after that, Finger Eleven came in and did an interview and performance. Between segments we were talking about how majority of canadians are really nice but how a certain artist from there is not and has ridiculous photo restrictions, like first 30 seconds and then that artist isnt on stage for the first 20. They were like whoa that's just wrong. But hey I'm not gonna name names. So I guess its safe to say Finger Eleven is nicer to photogs and gives them the generic 2 or 3 songs. They seemed like really nice guys though. One guy had this cool mohawk.

Almost 2 weeks ago I shot Tommy Lee and Ludacris in the Stockyards filming for a show called Battleground Earth, that will be on a new channel owned by the discovery channel. In short they have to get used cooking oil from restaurants for their busses. I guess in some sort of contest.

They participated in the calf scramble at the Friday Night stockyards rodeo. And filmed an entrance outside. Seriously ruins the magic of it when you watch them film it 5 times and you hear the director tell all the bystanders to walk around and dont just stand there and act natural.

But anyway the next night I was assigned to shoot Travis Tritt and when I got there I noticed the film crew was there. Our writer said they were going to be in Dallas that afternoon but I guess they came back to the Stockyards to do some more filming. I kind of felt like I was being stalked by them at that point.

So I shot my three songs. Travis was pretty showy on the guitar which was good. Makes for cool shots. Cant say I'm big into his music. I know some of it. I like lots of music, I like a ton of country music, but I've just never been into Travis Tritt. So I shot my three, then he brought out Ludacris and Tommy Lee. So I took a few shots of that. As pictured above.

I have some kidd kraddick stuff and Graham Colton stuff to put up but then I should be all caught up which is just amazing. I'm planning on going to Taste of Addison to see Gavin Degraw on Friday. I tried to get a photo pass from the festival folks but they were like oh we have actual publications. Well the paper I shoot for didnt cover it last year so that leaves you with what? The Dallas Morning News and possibly the Pegasus news, and I hate to say it but one of the obscure magazines that sells like 3 copies a month? And last year there were maybe 3 photographers in there shooting Daughtry, I've been in smaller pits with more photographers than that so just a tad bit of a rant. I

know my blog isnt huge but it does get some readers, and readers I appreciate you reading or at least looking. Ok end of that.

I know I don't talk about my life like ever here. I talk about shows and all that. But some may know since I freelance I also wait tables to pay the bills. I work at a restaurant that has the whole curbside to go thing. And during lunch sometimes the expo handles it. So I'm in the back getting dressing for a table or something and the expo comes up and goes "The lady in the car out there isn't wearing pants..... and she's in a low car so you like have to look down." OK this is probably the funniest and most shocking thing I've heard all day. While its hilarious its slightly appalling that this woman thinks just because she doesnt have to get out of her car this dismisses her from having to put on pants. What if a cop pulls you over and asks you to get out of the car? Are you just going to be standing there on the side of the road with no pants. And for the record the area the restaurant is in is a pretty descent neighborhood. It's the type of area with a country club and multiple golf courses and the walmart is fairly clean even. So I just thought I would share the shocker of a the week.

Also since I cant say it at work I'm gonna say it here. If you cant afford to tip your server 15 percent at least. Dont go out and eat at a sit down restaurant. Go to the McDonalds where tips arent expected. I believe everyone should be able to go out and eat if they like, but maybe do it less often so you can afford it. I get it's a tough time in the economy, why do you think I wait tables and freelance photograph. But when you screw your server I still have to tip out on my sales to the busser and bar, and when you come in and spend 50 bucks on a meal and dont tip. I lose a dollar. I know in the grand scheme of things you're thinking oh that's just a dollar.

Well let me break it down for you were paid 2 bucks an hour. You know that doesnt even cover the gas it takes to get to work. If no one tipped us. At the end of the lunch shift we'd owe 4 bucks to the bar and busser possibly more but generally 4 bucks. If I wasnt being tipped and only getting paid 2 bucks an hour and I'm only there for 3 hours. I drove to work to make 2 dollars that day. If that is the state the nation is going to be in, the waiters of the world will quit then who will bring you your food. This isnt the jetsons, there is no sarcastic robot to bring you stuff. Also more than ever people are taking the term server for servant. I get that you drink your drink fast, I am not allowed to bring you a pitcher and shove a straw in it. And amazingly enough you are not my only table. I have 4 other tables that may need something other than a drink refill every 2 minutes.

Now as bitter of a waitress as I sound, I try my best to be incredibly nice to all my tables, I'm not saying I'm the perfect waitress, we all screw up and make mistakes, but I do try to be genuinely nice. But the moral of the excessively long story is, just because the economy is crap right now, we are hurting too. 10 percent and less doesnt pay the bills. It doesnt kill you to tip the 15 percent. If you can afford to go eat out then you can afford to tip. Especially those of you who order alcoholic beverages, appetizers, and desserts. So just take that into account. Also a couple tip guide lines, if you run your server around and they keep up and do a good job, you should probably leave more than 15 percent and DEFINITELY no less than 15 percent. Also if you sit at the table for more than 30 mintues you should probably tip more, because you're keeping that table from getting sat again, which is keeping the server from making more money. Our job isnt easy, it's not rocket science, but trying to please everyone is tough. We try hard to make sure your food gets out quickly and correctly. We try hard to make sure your drink doesn't run dry. And anyone who's waited tables before totally understands. Those are some of the best tippers. Not to mention I completely believe in server Karma.

I'm going to imagine everyone who reads this will take some sort of enlightenment away from it. Sorry about all the rants. I promise I'm a happy person. Just frustrated sometimes. In a positive note since it's not tax season business at the restaurant and tips have gotten better. Stimulus checks may have something to do with it too. If so then way to go government! How about lowering gas prices now! YEAH!
